The Vada Pav That Reminds Me of My Mumbai Journey!
I came to Mumbai in 2001 as a young boy, starting my career as a management trainee. I travelled in local trains, learned to survive the pace of the city, and slowly began to understand what life was all about.
Looking back, I feel those local train journeys did much more than take me from one place to another. They taught me resilience. They taught me patience. And most importantly, they made me believe that if I could handle the challenges of Mumbai, I could handle the tough journeys that life would throw at me.
In many ways, Mumbai made a man out of the boy who came here in 2001.
And somewhere in that journey, Vada Pav became a part of my story.
I returned to Mumbai in 2005 after completing my MBA. This time, my profile was different, my confidence was different, and I was looking at the city from a different perspective.
But one thing remained unchanged, the humble Vada Pav!
Eventually, I returned to Calcutta, but Mumbai never really left me. Even today, I travel to Mumbai almost every month. In my heart, I have always remained a Mumbaikar.
The journey has changed. From a management trainee travelling in local trains to an entrepreneur building businesses, the distance travelled has been significant.
But every time I see a Vada Pav, it takes me back to those days. It reminds me of the boy I was, the dreams I carried, and the struggles that shaped me.
Perhaps that is the real beauty of Mumbai. It doesn't just give you opportunities to build a career. It gives you the courage to build a life.
And I believe this is the story of so many entrepreneurs who came to Mumbai with dreams, worked through their struggles, and eventually built something meaningful.
We may have different stories, different businesses and different definitions of success.
But somewhere, many of us share the same journey and perhaps, the same Vada Pav!
The journey changes. The success changes. But the Vada Pav story remains the same!
