Completely agree.
I vividly remember, in 2001, when Karunanithi arrest happened there was real public outrage. Our school special classes got cancelled, shops closed, roads became empty etc. We were all among the Sun TV brainwashed segment where we stayed glued to the channel all day following the news. There was an all day live phone call show hosted by Ramesh Prabha where people kept calling and expressed their agony over Jayalalitha's vendetta. People honestly empathised with DMK and the public sentiment was strongly in favour of DMK.

Fast forward to 2026- the common people, TN media (other than sun network), national media, social media - everyone celebrated this Udhayanidhi arrest and there is not an ounce of sympathy for DMK. While DMK tried organizing hilarious protests through their party members and got Lathi charged, one could see the people welcomed this move. That is how worse DMK's image is among the people. It is not surprising considering their terrible loss in the 2026 elections where a sitting CM was defeated and thrown away.
