People think LLMs are "trained on the entire Internet", but that isn't quite accurate. They're trained on the entire Internet, plus on tons of data generated by armies of human contractors, plus on tons programmatically-generated data for various tasks. The goal is to train them on a dense sampling of absolutely everything they might ever be faced with -- as a way to work around their lack of generalization ability.
