Yesterday, Rubio terminated 5800 USAID contracts – more than 90% of its foreign aid programs – in defiance of the courts.
Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressional mandated. They've saved millions of lives. 🧵

Large freight vehicles are major polluters on U.S. roads. A new study by researchers at EDF, @BU_Tweets & @UNC shows electrifying them in NYC could save $2.4B & prevent hundreds of deaths per year. NY's ACT rule can help make this happen! Learn more here: https://t.co/eg5bAIcOH3

Fact #2: Federal actions over the last 4 years are expected to bring a 28 metric ton reduction in climate pollution—as much as all U.S. vehicles emit in 20 years! Reversing course would mean leaving this pollution in the air—and in our lungs. Read more: https://t.co/e6nblI7gdE
New York state legislators currently are considering delays in implementation of the state’s ACT rule, which requires truck and bus manufacturers to gradually produce and sell an increasing percentage of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
Our new study finds electrifying trucks and buses would save $2.4 billion/year in health costs, prevent 52,000 asthma exacerbations and 200 new cases of childhood asthma in New York City.
Neighborhoods with the worst air pollution would benefit.

These underscore the importance of actions - like the Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) rule and others – as an opportunity for New York to lead on health and climate progress in the face of renewed pushback at the federal level.
While insufficient finance commitments threaten to halt negotiations, countries had no problem in finding US$ 1.4 trillion to subsidise fossil fuels in 2022 alone. Taking externalities into account they rise to 7trillion
