🚨🚨Bureaucracy is the 2nd most powerful cartel in #Pakistan 🚨🚨
The government will not fully disclose the assets of civil servants due to security concerns and will instead publish selected information by December this year to meet requirements of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal told the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue on Thursday.
However, parliamentarians questioned why full details would not be made public when politicians, including the president and prime minister, were required to disclose their assets. They questioned why public servants should be treated differently when parliamentarians and politicians were required to make full asset declarations.

Important Message from Former Prime Minister Imran Khan from Adiala Jail - 22 July 2025
Note: This tweet is based on the tweet from July 24, 2025.
“Never in the history of Pakistan has any political leader been subjected to the treatment that I am currently enduring. Nawaz Sharif committed corruption worth billions and was nevertheless granted every possible comfort in prison. In contrast, never before has the innocent and apolitical spouse of a political figure been imprisoned under such inhumane conditions as those imposed upon Bushra Bibi.
I am enduring the harshest prison term in the country’s history solely for the supremacy of the Constitution and in service of my nation. The level of oppression and authoritarianism is such that even the water I have for ablution is filthy and contaminated with dirt, unfit for any human being. Books sent to me by my family have been withheld for months. Access to television and newspapers has also been suspended. I have spent countless hours re-reading the same old books, but now even those are no longer available.
All my basic human rights have been violated. Even the minimum facilities accorded to ordinary prisoners under the law and the jail manual are denied to me. Despite repeated requests, I have not been allowed to speak to my children. Political meetings have also been restricted; I am only permitted to meet certain ‘choice individuals’, while all other interactions are barred.
I am waging a battle against a 78-year-old system, and my greatest success is that despite unprecedented oppression, the public stands firmly with me.
On February 8th (2024), the people expressed their trust in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf by voting for you even in the absence of an electoral symbol. After such a clear mandate, it is the moral and political responsibility of every party member to become the voice of the people. It will be nothing short of disgraceful and condemnable if PTI leaders waste time on internal conflicts at this critical juncture. Anyone found engaging in factionalism within the party will be expelled. I am fighting for the future of our generations, and every sacrifice I make is for that cause. To create rifts within the party at this time would be a direct betrayal of my mission and vision.
The so-called government formed through Form 47 has crippled the judiciary through the 26th Constitutional Amendment. The way biased judges are now delivering blatantly unjust verdicts under these courts is visible to the entire nation. We must launch a robust campaign to liberate the judiciary, for no nation can survive, let alone progress, without judicial independence.”
Listen.
There is a man who has been locked away for three years. His eyes are failing. His body is weakening. The people who once shared the field with him, who knew the weight of the bat & the heat of the pitch, have finally raised their voices. & what do we hear in response? That this ain’t about him. That this is about something darker. That the real game is to drag a whole country through the mud.
What kind of thinking is that?
You do not protect a nation by covering its wounds. You do not honor a people by demanding silence when one of their own is suffering in plain sight. The moment you decide that speaking about cruelty is more dangerous than the cruelty itself, you’ve already lost the argument. You have already confessed that the image matters more than the man.
Cricket was never pure. It never pretended to be. When South Africa shut its doors to half its own people, the world did not look away & call it internal business. Players walked away. Boards imposed bans. Fans turned their backs. Twenty one years of isolation. Not because they hated a country, but because they refused to pretend that sport could live comfortably beside injustice.
Now the same game is asked to look the other way again. Three years of quiet. Three years of polite indifference from too many who should have known better. & when the silence finally breaks, when men who once competed against him say the simple thing, that a human being deserves medical care & basic dignity, the answer is suspicion. The answer is strategy. The answer is that this must be about something else.
I lament this. I lament the ease with which we turn compassion into conspiracy. I lament the reflex that treats every foreign voice as an enemy & every local silence as loyalty. I lament the smallness of a logic that would rather a man rot quietly than have the world notice the smell.
There is no deeper game here except the oldest one. The game of power protecting itself. The game of reputation valued above truth. The game of telling the world that looking at the wound is more shameful than the wound.
If a country is stained by the way it treats its own, then the stain was already there. The voices did not create it. They only refused to look away. & that refusal, that stubborn human refusal, is the only thing that has ever pulled any nation back from the edge.
So speak. Speak early. Speak without calculating the damage to the brand. Because the real damage was never the speaking. The real damage was the long, careful, cowardly silence that came before.
@javeednusrat@imrankhan Great sir - Then why the hell one doesn’t want to put his house in order so no one can point fingers from outside. I hope you have given thought to that?
Adding my support here to GC and the other former international captains. I hope the court ordered medical assessment be allowed to run its course, and that family visits continue. I hope Imran Khan is treated with the dignity anyone deserves
It has now been around 1,100 days since my father, Imran Khan, was imprisoned, and my brother and I haven’t heard his voice since March. For months, we’ve been denied contact with him. We remain in the dark about his access to healthcare as his eyesight continues to deteriorate. He urgently needs medical attention, and with no family or legal access, we don’t even get any second hand information or reassurance.
I’ve found myself especially missing him recently. I want to speak to him about mundane things like my cricket, books I’ve been reading and what new movies are good. I understand the people of Pakistan want their chosen leader free, but I miss my father more than ever.
But this is not just about a father. It is about Pakistan, and its future. A rigged, authoritarian regime continues to crush political opposition, undermine democratic institutions, and deny millions of Pakistanis their right to freely choose their leaders, whilst terrorising those who speak their beliefs.
I once again plea to the international community to not look away. Silence in the face of injustice only enables it.
This blessed Eid reminds us yet again that it is easy to submit before brute power & find refuge in meaningless comfort. Putting one’s existence in risk by defying the demands of power is the message of a life devoted to sacrifice and struggle for a higher purpose. #freeImranKhan
🇵🇰🇸🇦 The pact Khan refused is the one that explains everything.
In 2021, while the CIA was pushing Khan for drone bases and Washington was getting increasingly fed up with Islamabad, Saudi Arabia was also knocking on Pakistan's door for a mutual defence pact. Khan said no to both. He saw them as red lines, commitments that would drag Pakistan into other people's wars and hand away whatever foreign policy independence the country still had.
The military watched him do this and decided he was a problem.
That's what fed into everything that followed. The lobbyist quietly hired behind Khan's back. The generals cutting their own deals. And eventually the cypher, Lu sitting across from Pakistan's ambassador in Washington and saying all will be forgiven if Khan goes. Thirty three days later, Khan was gone.
The first thing Munir did was start saying yes to everything Khan had said no to. The Saudi pact was signed in September 2025, the same pact Khan had been refusing for years. Confidential terms, both sides commit to defend each other if attacked. When asked whether it included nuclear weapons, one official said it was "a comprehensive defensive agreement that encompasses all military means." Make of that what you will.
By the time the Iran war started Pakistan had already moved 8,000 troops, 16 JF-17 jets, 2 drone squadrons and a Chinese HQ-9 air defence system into Saudi Arabia under that pact. Saudis foot the bill, Pakistanis run the gear. The pact allows for up to 80,000 troops if things escalate. All of this happening while Islamabad was busy telling the world it was a neutral peacemaker.
The cypher was never just about Ukraine or Putin. It was about getting rid of a prime minister who kept saying no and replacing him with one who would say yes to everything. The Saudi pact is what that looks like three years later.
Khan is still in a cell. Munir is Trump's favorite Field Marshal. And Saudi Arabia has a nuclear armed ally it could never get while Khan was in charge.
The cable did exactly what it was sent to do.

🇵🇰🇺🇸 The cable that toppled a government is finally public.
On March 7, 2022, Pakistan's ambassador in Washington sat down with U.S. assistant secretary of state Donald Lu. The message was short and clear, remove Imran Khan through a no-confidence vote and Washington will look the other way. "All will be forgiven," the ambassador later recalled. Thirty three days later, Khan was gone.
But this didn't start with that meeting. In June 2021, CIA Director William Burns personally flew to Islamabad to meet Khan. Waited a full day. Khan never showed. Said he'd only speak to his counterpart, meaning Biden, who had been dodging Khan's calls since day one. Burns left with nothing. Weeks later Khan went on record with Axios and just said it out loud, "Absolutely not. There is no way we are going to allow any bases, any sort of action from Pakistani territory into Afghanistan." No diplomatic cushioning, no ambiguity.
Washington had its answer. Pakistan's military had seen enough of their own prime minister.
In July 2021, behind Khan's back, the military quietly put a former CIA Islamabad station chief on retainer as a lobbyist in Washington. The generals were already cutting their own deal.
Then came the moment that sealed it. On February 24, 2022, the exact day Russian tanks rolled into Ukraine, Khan was in Moscow shaking hands with Putin on a long scheduled visit. Biden's national security advisor Sullivan had personally called Islamabad days before urging them to cancel. Khan didn't budge. Pakistan then abstained on the UN vote condemning the invasion. Washington was done.
Weeks later came the Lu meeting. The cable. And then Khan was out.
What followed was a gut punch. Artillery shells started flowing to Ukraine secretly through U.S. defense contractors. American support for Pakistan's IMF lifeline was explicitly tied to keeping that weapons pipeline running. Pakistan got its $3 billion bailout in July 2023. In February 2024 the military brazenly rigged the elections and the U.S. and EU sat on their hands and said nothing.
And Khan? Buried under a never ending conveyor belt of charges, corruption, contempt, national security, one case collapsing only for another to appear. He has been behind bars for nearly 3 years now. His wife still in prison. His party outlawed, stripped of its electoral symbol, barred from even fielding candidates under its own name.
The cypher was always real. They called it fake, jailed the man who leaked it, and hoped everyone would move on. They didn't.

*Demanding Justice for Adv. Imaan Mazari Hazir and Adv. Hadi Ali Chattha*
24 April 2026: We, members of the Civil Society of Pakistan, stand in unwavering support and solidarity with renowned lawyers, Adv. Imaan Mazari Hazir and Adv. Hadi Ali Chattha.
We strongly condemn the continued incarceration of both human rights lawyers. Despite urgent Petitions, 90 days have passed without court hearings or due process – after being unjustly sentenced to 17 years imprisonment and fines of Rs.36 million, following a sham trial – in violation of the Constitution, rule of law, fundamental human rights, and dignity of the legal profession.
*Human Rights, Health, Financial, Legal Implications*
Their imprisonment, including solitary confinement, has reached a critical threshold, with serious implications.
*Constitutional Violations, Unjust Punishment:* Their 17-year sentences, with huge fines on trivial charges, violate Pakistan Constitution Articles 4, 9, and 10-A, guaranteeing dignity and security of the person, due process, and right to a fair trial.
*Physical and Psychological Health:* Prolonged incarceration without due process imperils physical and psychological health, necessitating urgent medical intervention. The State’s imprisonment and separation of a married couple serves no purpose other than to inflict maximum emotional distress, violating their dignity and human rights.
*Financial Strangulation:* Imposing excessive fines, the State is effectively stripping them of their ability to sustain themselves upon their eventual release after 17 years.
*Silencing Voices of the Voiceless:* Both are renowned pillars as legal and human rights defenders – voices and bridges between the marginalized and the State.
*Grassroots Activism:* Both are at the forefront of social justice activism: protests, press conferences, media advocacy, conveying the voices of the vulnerable.
*Persecution of Rights Defenders:* Due to their brave work within the judicial system, a systematic strategy to crush the spirit of two young human rights defenders, legal professionals.
*Defending the Defenceless:* Both specialize in defending victims of *enforced disappearances* and false *blasphemy* accusations, taking cases on _pro bono_ basis to ensure legal representation.
*Breach of International Commitments:* UN Special Rapporteurs stated that charges of "cyber terrorism" are a blatant attempt to silence their professional work in Public Interest Litigation and human rights activism. Having ratified the ICCPR _(inter alia)_ Pakistan is thus in direct violation of its binding legal international commitments in this matter.
*Demands*
We call upon the Government of Pakistan and the Judiciary urgently to:
1. *Expedite Judicial Process:* We urge the judiciary to take up their Appeals and hear their cases on *merit*, releasing them on bail without further delay. *The State must not obstruct the swift dispensation of justice.*
2. *Withdraw Fabricated Charges:* The State must withdraw all "cyber terrorism" and "glorification of offense" charges under PECA 2016.
3. *Revoke Fine, Provide Compensation:* (a) Revocation of Rs.36 million fines; (b) Provision of relief and compensation for the physical and psychological trauma of their unjust incarceration.
4. *Comply with UN Obligations:* Ensure full compliance with the ICCPR and all recommendations of the UN Special Rapporteurs in this matter.
*A Plea to the Legal Community*
We commend the legal community for their strong Resolution (15 April 2026). We call upon Bar Associations and lawyers countrywide to also demonstrate solidarity and work jointly to obtain justice for their unjustly convicted, sentenced, imprisoned colleagues.
*If defenders of the law are not safe from misuse of the law, then no citizen is safe.*
