They will soon say all Rental Contracts with your landlord must be registered and stamp duty paid on the Lease contract.
Then landlord will have to pay their taxes.
You have a sino trucks carring aggregade stones uncovered moving at high speed on a highway. Shouldn't we have this covered @PoliceUg@MoWT_Uganda@HonByamukama . This is risky those stones can hit a car causing an accident. Must we just watch.
When Dr Kizza Besigye arrived in Nairobi in November 2024, he was a veteran Ugandan opposition leader, physician and four-time presidential candidate.
He had come to Kenya for a book launch but little did he know he would leave as a prisoner.
Nearly two years later, the 70-year-old politician is still incarcerated while battling for his life because of ill health and Kenya is largely to blame for his predicament. He recently collapsed in court, was admitted to hospital and suddenly returned to prison.

I find it incredible that waiving of taxes continues unchecked. There is no easier way to “make money” in government than waiving taxes worth billions. It is the cleanest, quietest, most profitable form of corruption and it should be outright prohibited.
Take this UGX 8 billion request. The company likely doesn’t have the full 8 billion but it might have UGX 2 billion it could pay to URA and others it owes money too. And here is where the real theft happens: instead of that 2 billion going to URA, it is shared among the lobbyists for this exemption starting with MoFPED Ministers, their technical staff, MPs (including those who wrote this minority report), and even URA officers who assess the arrears, plus their supervisors. That is how public revenue is quietly converted into private wealth.
Fresh Cuts is by no means a strategically indispensable asset because there at least six other meat processing companies operating in Uganda, including Ranchers Finest, Sanga Meat, Top Cuts, Quality Cuts, and HMH Rainbow. Why spend taxpayer money to bail it out instead of letting market forces take their course? Unless an influential, well-connected shareholder is pulling strings behind the scenes, there is no sound economic justification for this rescue.
LACK OF FISCAL DISCIPLINE SHOULD NOT BE REWARDED OTHERWISE LETS FORGET THE USD 500 BILLION ECONOMY.
Not long ago (I think 2014), Ssembule, a company manufacturing electronics & steel, sought government bailout of 7 billion unsuccessfully & was later on sold by the bank creditors. Now, in 2024, Fresh Cuts (sausages & meat), is being saved by government over an 8 billion bill.
Treason charges are becoming a political weapon against opposition leaders across Africa.
In country after country, opposition figures are arrested, prosecuted or threatened with treason charges after challenging those in power.
African governments must respect political freedoms, due process and the right of citizens to organise and challenge those who govern them.
When treason charges become a shortcut for dealing with political opponents, democracy itself is put on trial.

Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema has been sworn in for a second five-year term following a disputed election and the arrest of his main opponent on treason charges.

@HHichilema They say you closed off courts using the National army and police to block opposition opponents from filling petitions against your “purported presidential victory”🤷🏽♂️ @HHichilema
