@SCKagaba Some work has been done at Kisoro Airfiled, including resurfacing of the runway, taxiway, and apron in 2023. Works for a new terminal building at Kisoro are at 30% level of completion.

Jinja Airfield has undergone an upgrade, with its runway, taxiway, and apron transformed from gravel surfaces into a modern paved runway and parallel taxiway.

The project forms part of the National Civil Aviation Master Plan, an initiative designed to modernize regional aerodromes, enhance connectivity, and support tourism and trade across the country.

UCAA JOINS ENTEBBE CORRIDOR ROTARY CLUBS FOR CANCER RUN

A team from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) joined the Entebbe Corridor Rotary Clubs for the Cancer Run held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, starting from Mayor’s Gardens in Entebbe.

The participation reflects UCAA’s continued commitment to supporting initiatives that make a positive impact in communities.Over the years, UCAA has partnered with the Entebbe Corridor Rotary Clubs on various Rotary initiatives aimed at supporting community development and improving the wellbeing of people in the surrounding communities.

UCAA is pleased to continue this partnership in support of the fight against cancer and other community causes.

📍#SOROTI: Strengthening Aviation Training Capacity ✈️

Hon. Julius Maganda Wandera, Minister of State for Works & Transport [Transport], on a visit to the East African Civil Aviation Academy (EACAA) in Soroti as part of his familiarisation tour.

During engagements with EACAA management, the Minister discussed key legal, operational and administrative challenges affecting the Academy and the interventions required to strengthen its mandate.

Entebbe International Airport had a busy July.
156,342 passengers passed through the airport, averaging 5,043 travellers every day.
Cargo traffic also hit 4,799 tonnes, with exports leading at 3,123 tonnes. @UgandaCAA

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) staff participated in the fifth edition of the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Kasese.

Three UCAA staff; Jonathan Musasizi, Viola Kalembe and Jonathan Lyadda participated in the 42-kilometre run.

The marathon raises awareness about environmental conservation, promotes tourism in Uganda, and has been designated as the only World Athletics Label Road Race in Uganda and one of only three in the East African region.

The event also promotes health and wellness among participants and the wider community.

PICTORIAL: MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT GUIDED TOUR OF FACILITIES AT ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Management of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority hosted Members of Parliament from the Public Accounts Committee - Committee of Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (PAC-COSASE) and took them around the various facilities and services at Entebbe International Airport on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

The Committtee led by Hon. Muwada Nkunyingi visited the departure and arrival facilities at the main terminal building, the new terminal building (extension), cargo centre, electrical centre, fire station, and business class lounge, among others.

Speaking to the Members of Parliament, the Ag. Director General Ms Olive Birungi Lumonya highlighted a number of recent milestones that the Authority had recorded, including the development of a 15-year Air Navigation Plan 2025-2040, securing a seat on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council for the period 2025-2028, "which is a significant achievement and recognition of Uganda's contribution to international civil aviation."

She further noted that "the aviation subsector has demonstrated considerable resilience in the face of a number of external shocks, including Middle East Airspace flight disruptions."

Overall, growth in Uganda’s aviation sector remains positive.

"For instance, Entebbe International Airport recorded 2.48 million international passengers in 2025, compared to 2.24 million in 2024, representing growth of approximately 11 per cent. This growth was supported by increased airline connectivity, tourism, and the introduction of new routes and operators. Uganda has now concluded a total of 64 Bilateral Air Service Agreements with other countries," she said.

She further updated members that Uganda attained an effective implementation score of 72.64% in the ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme – Continuos Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) in September 2023.

The score was above the regional average of 55% and the global average of 69.4%.

"In relation to security, Uganda scored 81.6% in the Universal Security Audit Programme – Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) audit of January–February 2024, above averages of 64.5% (regional) and 72.36% (global). No significant safety or security concern was raised in either audit."

Ms. Lumonya added that to further enhance safety, three new state-of-the-art fire trucks to maintain category 9 fire cover for Entebbe International Airport were recently acquired.

"The Karibuni Lounge was revamped and relocated to the second floor of the passenger terminal building to create room for passenger lounges on the first floor. This project is complete," she said.

The Members of Parliament appreciated what they found on the ground, and being an accountability committee, they promised to interact further with the Authority for additional clarifications.
