Even though pokemon made companions huge, I don't remember a game that went mainstream where they have autonomy in battle, when we built pokenite in 2023, we seemed to have an interesting quick high dopamine wave clear mechanic, but we transformed into a tower defense game. We tried it for real when we made @GoPlayGuardians , but it ended up being just an epic pick that never got traction.
If someone can create enough variables around a pet to make this kind of game work @K1K000ZL is the man for the job.
Pet system remake Part 4 🐾
Pets can now use sight and hearing to detect things around them and investigate when combat mood is active. The cool part is that combat mood can be enabled/disabled per pet, so they don’t all need to behave the same way.
The system supports melee, ranged and area attacks, plus configurable DOTs. Attacks can also have min/max range, so pets know when to move closer or keep distance for ranged attacks, basically kiting/spacing.
Hits are checked twice too: once when casting, to validate the range, and again when the attack reaches the target. And because the ability system is abstracted, adding new ability types is pretty simple now.

I am trying to put out one of these per week... I have to admit that this one started to take too long and I was investing too much time on it, so I rushed it in the end.
This kind of answer to a fucked up situation makes me follow, and I’m not the easy following type.

BMX update
added a few idle variations, improved the bike/player movement a bit, and free look is finally working, so I can rotate the camera and actually see the bike while riding.
still very early, but it’s already starting to feel fun.

@EVWAKA1@K1K000ZL hey @EVWAKA1 can you send me the post so I can check it out? I think that playtime drops depend on the type of event. Looking at Brainrot maps probably this is true because people check it out because of FOMO and if the theme isnt something they like they will not stay to farm
@jaydubfn 8. build games as an onion, leave polish and width to the outer most layer and possibly they just come after actually validating the concept.

Pet system remake Part 3 🐾
Today I started working on the slot system!
Pets are no longer locked to a fixed position, so the player can dynamically move a pet from one slot to another and even change the Combat formation they use around the character.
This means the system can support different layouts, behaviors and gameplay needs without rebuilding the pet logic every time.
