The danger is we’re starting to write healthcare policy via SoMe/ popularist opinion, with little regard for consequences.

@Megsenmumdr @AoAA_uk @DHSCgovuk The challenge is finding a title that’s not confusing for patients, not already in use (or part of) , not used by another completely different profession (eg PAs) . And not potentially confusing for teams to use.
This should be done by research rather than individual opinion.

Physicians’ assistant (anaesthesia) wasn’t the original title.
I’ve used all 4 I’ve found AAs cause least amount of confusion for patients.

However feel AA is the most appropriate title, in anaesthesia it’s a very crowded space for titles.
Of which the TBD title will be the only protected title by law
