@Doc_IonaCollins Hi thanks for the feedback, this is a new website in the last few months, so still some issues with old links etc.
We are a very small team, and will look to correct them soon.
Great place to find out what’s happening with all things AAs! Especially now almost a year post Leng publication

@BrittanyFerries this keeps coming up when trying to book a ferry for 2027. Have tried phoning and followed advice, however keeps still coming up! Any advice please ?
@DrHuw@Megsenmumdr@AoAA_uk@DHSCgovuk Some areas of the country they are , some areas not, no standardisation.
Our are know as anaesthetic practitioners. A title which once had.
@Megsenmumdr@AoAA_uk@DHSCgovuk PAA has created far more, and I say this as someone who’s used it.
The danger is we’re starting to write healthcare policy via SoMe/ popularist opinion, with little regard for consequences.
@Megsenmumdr@AoAA_uk@DHSCgovuk The challenge is finding a title that’s not confusing for patients, not already in use (or part of) , not used by another completely different profession (eg PAs) . And not potentially confusing for teams to use.
This should be done by research rather than individual opinion.
@Megsenmumdr@AoAA_uk@DHSCgovuk Nope they can perform the same role, as anaesthesia assistants. (Nurses have to do a top up course .

@Megsenmumdr@AoAA_uk@DHSCgovuk Anaesthesia assistants are ODPs and nurses.
Physicians’ assistant (anaesthesia) wasn’t the original title.
I’ve used all 4 I’ve found AAs cause least amount of confusion for patients.
@Megsenmumdr@AoAA_uk@DHSCgovuk Happy for it to be clear I’m not a doctor nor physician.
However feel AA is the most appropriate title, in anaesthesia it’s a very crowded space for titles.
Of which the TBD title will be the only protected title by law
@Megsenmumdr@AoAA_uk@DHSCgovuk Personally feel a binary choice of AA or PAA isn’t the right path. If our names going to protected by law forever it needs to be correct.
@Megsenmumdr@AoAA_uk@DHSCgovuk Having used all the titles, patients find the PAA most confusing, they often are not hearing the assistant part. Just hearing “Physician in anaesthesia”.
Please ensure you have your view on current consultation by the @DHSCgovuk known.
This includes the proposed protected title change.
