My wife told me when she was in residency, staff in the ED would wear Halloween costumes. One year a kid came in and had to be coded by a clown, witch, etc. and how bad the optics were. So I refuse to wear a costume at work because I’m terrified of delivering bad news in costume.
Today I woke up feeling different. I gave up, I can't take this anymore. Nothing is distracting me and no pill is making my anxiety less, I can feel it in my chest. I'm drained.
If you matched, congratulations. Now, DO NOT USE your home address and personal number for anything license/provider number related. Use your hospital’s, this will be public info. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
Mentors are important in medical training but so are Anti-Mentors! The people you meet in medicine that you NEVER want to be like. There are SO many. Try to figure out how they got to be as they are. This can shape your career in more ways than you know.
@blondemedSJW I always open with: this is a consult on behalf of the medicine team who wants it prior to admission. I don’t personally have a clinical question but they want you aware of the patient
A systematic review published this month in the Annals of EM comparing a bougie to stylet for first-pass success found the bougie to be superior (RR 1.11, 1.05-1.16).
This study included 5 studies from the ED or ICU, 4 from the prehospital, and 9 from the OR. It also included both DL and VL.

Boy math:
Female + 4 yr college degree + 4 yr medical degree + 3-7 yr residency training + “Dr.” literally embroidered on their scrubs/white coat = so you’re a nurse?
PSA, if you’re in the emergency department and your doctor tells you they’re sorry you’ve been sitting in the waiting room and that they’re working on freeing up a room for you, I promise you they are doing everything in their power to do exactly that. It is not a lie.
