Insha Malik was 14-years-old when shotgun pellets fired by Indian forces blinded her in Kashmir.
Years later, she is speaking out against a Bollywood film she says downplays the devastating impact of pellet guns.
Costa Rica has successfully doubled its rainforest cover in just a few decades, becoming the first tropical country to completely reverse deforestation.
A first-year student was abducted on her way to collect her roll number slip in Jhang. She was gang-raped for three days. Her attackers dumped her at a hospital and fled.
This is a national emergency.
Every single day brings new reports of sexual violence - against women, children, and khwaja siras. Every single day. And every single day, the response is the same - outrage, silence, repeat. Extra-judicial killings are not a solution. They are a performance. They do not dismantle patriarchal violence, they sidestep accountability while handing unchecked power to a police force that is itself implicated in cases of sexual violence. You cannot end a systemic crisis with tools that are part of the system causing it.
What we need is a National Assembly emergency session dedicated to developing a serious, funded, medium-to-long-term national plan to end patriarchal violence. One that addresses root causes: impunity, institutional failure, the normalisation of violence against women and gender minorities. These are not isolated incidents. This is a pattern which is widespread, it is structural, and it demands a structural response. The women of this country deserve dignified lives. That is not a demand, it is literally the bare minimum.
The US president, who recognised occupied Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and stood alongside Netanyahu in the destruction of Gaza, is once again pressuring Muslim countries to sign the Abraham Accords. In reality, this agreement is nothing but a document of surrender.
The people of Pakistan will never accept any coercive attempt to legitimise and legalise Israel’s occupation of Jerusalem. Palestine belongs entirely to the Palestinians, and Jerusalem is its capital. Israel is an illegitimate state. This was the firm position of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and it is, and will remain, the position of every Pakistani.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should clearly announce the rejection of Trump’s illegitimate demand.
On this blessed Day of Arafah, wishing peace, mercy and countless blessings to Muslims around the world. 🤍
Please keep me and my family in your prayers as well. 🤲

This was the last text I ever received from my 34 year old Son, Edward. It was exactly a year ago today.
Within hours he was gone. He decided he wasn't "OK" and he took his own life just after midnight.
He was fighting on many fronts- Relationship problems, financial worry and issues with self esteem.
I think about him 100 times a day. I'd do anything to get him back, even if it was just for 5 minutes.
I'd say all the things to him that I didn't say when I had the opportunity. It's too late now.
Please take care of your loved ones. Watch over them. Many are struggling. Many are thinking dark thoughts. Many will take the decision to end their own suffering.
They need help and understanding. They probably won't get it from the "system" so it may be up to you.
Give someone a call today to ask how they're doing. Tell them Edward suggested it.
The way this man has been treated has been an absolute disgrace. Why would he leave halfway through a brand new 2-year contract and even through a rotten season overall, still one of our best players, just not at the standard he himself set.
A truly generational talent is leaving Liverpool FC tomorrow. And fans and pundits alike are divided over his legacy. Show some fuckin respect to the man.
to whomever made this: thank you from the wells of history and farthest echoes of indigenous screams for justice for this labor of love and justice.
their terror will not be whitewashed.
This is a colossal intelligence failure, which now seems to be a regular occurrence. Will the military rethink its strategy or will they keep going down this hole from which there seems to be no return?
