@QuantumTumbler I had the same thoughts. A distinction that makes no difference can be identical to a self-deception. And is a prerequisite of that too. Therefore the potential of self-deception is immanent. Your definition of intelligence, being open to something new, very much fits that.
This was one of the most interesting conversations I’ve had in a while.
Michelle Thaller a wealth of fascinating information about space, time and all things the cosmos. And she’s an incredibly compelling speaker. These kinds of podcasts are some of my favorites

@WKCosmo@skdh Imagine being a normal dude, and great experts on both sides are debating about faster than light communication and you cannot know who is right. It sucks. 😅
@PhilosophyOfPhy I find the thought that the universe has to be as large as it is to birth just one earth more fascinating than other intelligent lifeforms existing among us. Whatever might be true though, both ways are awesome.
@ThStoneh@martinmbauer I think @martinmbauer could have done better than just stating what he did. He is not convincing. @QuantumTumbler for example always takes his time to make his standpoint understandable in depth.
I am optimistic that we will one day make contact to extraterrestrials because I don't think that the speed of light is a fundamental limit. Here I explain why and I have a brief summary below.
@parmita@ATree_Official You should watch the latest videos from Misha Gromov at IHES. He stated that the genome and language have something in common from a mathematical standpoint, and that during the 3,5 billion years from protein folding until language nothing similar appeared.
@QuantumTumbler Some people tell that they use AI for tax tasks in their business. I am wondering, is AI really suitable for such tasks, because of details as you mentioned? I used Grok to make it calculate some p values and find correlations from my dissertation's data...had a bad gut feeling.
