@jdegoes The instructor decided to swap only the leaders, placing the top crew’s leader in charge of the worst team and the worst crew’s leader in charge of the best. Almost immediately, the formerly worst crew began winning while the previously best crew slipped.
@jdegoes I just finished the book Extreme Ownership. One of the best stories was Navy SEAL instructors noticed one boat crew that won every race while another consistently finished last. The leader of the losing crew complained about his sub par teammates.
@ChiefScientist@propensive It bothers me too. However, when it comes to this open letter, Brian Clapper/Travis Brown appear to be the public face/mastermind of it, respectively. But most of the online ire is directed towards the Scala Center. I want to make sure I am frustrated with the right people.
@TomekGodzik@fwbrasil@rolandkuhn This Open Scala Letter is troubling. If there are moderators who are still signatories, they lack the judgment to be in that position. I love Scala, but I hate what is going on. That GitHub repo needs to go.
@propensive There are three types of apologies:
1. I am sorry [that happened]/[you feel that way]
2. I am sorry I got caught
3. I am sorry I caused what I did
That email from @djspiewak was some highbrow #2 and clear denial of any #3.
@cal_fern@matej_cerny I made some founders rich by turning around their startup by rewriting their terrible, outdated Scala code to a Scala3 FP work of art with a small tiger team.
Startup sells to new owners. New owners have a boatload of foreign C# contractors.

@propensive You wrote - “There is a possibility that the Open Letter repository and website will be removed”
When you say there is a ‘possibility’ do you mean as a theoretical chance, or are there are active dialogs being taken to remove it? Retraction PR merges have stopped.
@FilmProfessor9@nypost Huh? How is this like Kodak? Only three companies can make advanced chips: Intel, TSMC, and Samsung. Which of those three is US-based?
@gummibear737 There is authenticity of persona and authenticity of character. I see Trump vs. Romney as examples of people who are high in one but deficient in the other.
You think Vance lacks both?
