he said he had no intentions to ACTUALLY make anyone uncomfortable or hurt anyone at all. and he didn't want to worry fans either. he also said he's at fault for not knowing it may be misinterpreted and that he will edit the music video.
The original intention I wanted to convey through this music video was to call out people who are snobbish, who act as though they’re above it all, who point fingers and impose their own standards—especially the so-called “condescending” types who misbehave while judging others. By mirroring their actions, I wanted to show them their own behavior and, in a sense, turn the blade back on them. That was the story and purpose I wanted to express through this music video.
I wanted to reproduce those finger-pointing actions and moments of condemnation while secretly being worse behind the scenes, and perform them in a way that would make such people feel the same discomfort they cause others.
By showing their behavior exactly as it is, I wanted them to experience how unpleasant and disrespectful it can be. At the end of the video, I planned to show the character ultimately self-destructing.
However, I have since realized that, certain scenes may feel uncomfortable to some viewers. When creating and releasing this project, I never intended to hurt anyone, to make anyone feel uncomfortable, or to worry my fans.
It was my fault not to recognize how it might be interpreted in that way. Therefore, I will replace the scene in question with another cut as quickly as possible.
One thing I would like to make clear is that my values (the ones I have lived by) remain exactly as you have seen them until now. I really wanted you to know this.
The stories I want to tell through my music, the messages I truly want to share, are all contained within the upcoming content, albums, and songs. Through them, I’ll be able to show my intentions more clearly.
So please give me a little more time and listen closely to what I’m trying to say.
Thank you sincerely for always believing in me and supporting me.
This year, Hui participated as a guest judge/mentor in 3 idol programs: MAKEMATE1, PROJECT 7, & Starlight Boys. Because Hui joined Boys Planet, Hui can genuinely empathize with the trainees.
0:00 (PROJECT 7) Hui to BAE173 members: You know I auditioned last year, right? Watching you perform, watching you dance until your bodies break… It was so cool. It was incredible. So cool. I was so touched. Honestly, we’re peers, and we’re not that different in age. I hope your hard work pays off and you make it soon.
0:41 (MAKEMATE1) Hui to Group A trainees who lost: What I felt during the contest was that, and I should tell this to my friends later on, is that losing isn’t just about losing and winning isn’t just about winning. That’s what strongly hit me. I’ve seen how things could lead to a better result. That’s why I hope the sadness ends today.
1:02 (PROJECT 7) Lee Junseon to Hui: When Hui-nim said that I have a special charm, it gave me confidence. It gave me the faith to approach my next performance with confidence.
1:27 Hui to Shao Zi Heng (trainee for 4 1/2 years who almost debuted)
1:47 Hui recognizing how earnest Lee Junhyuk (MIRAE) is
2:20 Hui and Lee Daeul (Boys Planet trainee)
🦫: Actually, I’ve always been curious about how he’s doing lately. I’m about to cry, really.
🦫: We participated in a talent show together. The group living period for that show was very long. So, we lived in the same room. We talked a lot.
👤: He used to be my brother, but now he’s my teacher. In my eyes, he’s always been a mentor and friend to me. Back in Boys Planet, I learned a lot from him. He was a teacher who benefited me greatly.
🦫(after Daeul received harsh feedback): Since you’ve already started this challenge after going through the last show, those difficult experiences must have given you something to reflect on. I hope you pour everything into this and show us how you will grow.
I don’t understand why Hui is at the receiving end of all this hate. They could’ve called out the producers who designed the program and the mission, draft a statement, do a hashtag event, do a boycott or whatever. Instead, they chose to conveniently paint Hui as the villain 🤷♀️
I hope that Hui is okay. I’m relieved that even non-fans are defending Hui because they can see how ridiculously unreasonable this is.
