Building MoltPe - stablecoin payment rails for AI agents
13+ yrs in Indian fintech (banking, lending, payments)
Thinking about: coordination layers, on-chain in
The market will treat this announcement as a feature launch, when in fact, it's a land grab for a protocol layer, and protocol layers, once they tip, don't get displaced. They get built on top of. Every fintech that wants an autonomous agent to transact now has two choices: solve the authentication problem themselves, which means months of NPCI compliance work and a Grantex-equivalent identity layer from scratch, or plug into P3P. The replication cost of "don't" just went to zero for everyone except the company that built the layer.
Watch what the Gullak example actually demonstrates. ₹500 of gold, a price threshold, a mandate signed once. Trivial, almost embarrassingly small. But trivial is the point... this is the use case that proves the mechanism generalizes to every rule-based financial decision a human currently executes badly because humans are bad at vigilance. SIP top-ups. Bill payment timing. Inventory reorder triggers for a kirana store. Each of those was previously a product someone had to build payment rails for, one integration at a time. Now it's a checkbox.
The Vijay Sales angle is where it gets genuinely interesting for the existing business, and where I think the market will be slow to connect the dots. An agent that buys a refrigerator the moment it crosses a price threshold isn't just a P3P transaction, it's a conversion event landing directly on top of Pine Labs' Brand EMI infrastructure, the same subvention and affordability stack that already does 90% share of in-store credit card EMI. P3P doesn't compete with the affordability engine. It's a new finger on the trigger. The agent fires the purchase; the existing rails monetize it exactly as they would a human walking up to a counter, except now the timing is optimal and the conversion rate doesn't depend on a human remembering to check.
Here's where I hold the view loosely... one fintech pilot and one retailer POC, in the same week as the announcement, is meaningfully different from a roadmap slide, but it is still two logos. The entire thesis rests on whether the next few quarters produce five more integrations across categories that don't obviously connect to gold savings and electronics... travel, B2B procurement, bill payments. If that cadence materializes, P3P is the rail every Indian fintech eventually routes through, the way every UPI app today routes through NPCI's switch regardless of which bank stands behind it.
AI agents paying for things on their own is the new norm!
Here's a quick demo of agentic payments using the x402 standard.
Flow is like this:
- Built a simple Emoji API
- It returns a 402 payment required to the agent
- The agent completes the payment via @craydotpro
- A emoji is returned on success
I used moltpe to spin up the agent wallet (multi-chain, non-custodial option available too) & funded it with USDC on @tempo.
The infra for autonomous AI economies is already here, this is just a small glimpse of what's possible.
who else is ready to let agents spend their own money?
Been building quietly for a while.
13 years in payments. Cards at Kotak, cross-border at IIFL Fintech, consumer fintech at Niyo. Then I went and built one of my own.
MoltPe is payment infrastructure for AI agents. Your agent gets its own isolated wallet with spending limits. It spends from that wallet, not yours.
What’s live right now: send payments, create invoices, collect payments, track receivables. MCP server, REST API, real on-chain transactions. 95+ PRs merged, zero rollbacks.
The part nobody else is building? Collections.
Every company in this space focuses on agents spending money. Skyfire, Payman, Crossmint, even Stripe’s new MPP. All about the agent as buyer.
But what happens when your agent runs a service and needs to get paid? Invoice a client? Follow up on overdue payments?
That’s the gap. That’s what MoltPe does.
A wallet for your agent, not access to yours.

@RBI I hope this doesn't cover debit cards. #NiyoGlobal is an international debit card program in partnership with @sbmbankindia and @theniyo. 50K+ customers are traveling abroad with this card as of today and are dependent on it. I sincerely hope their cards continue to work.
