Budget 2027-28 discussions are underway.

But here's a question for the government:

Where is the taxpayer in the room?

Private-sector employees.
Professionals.
Small business owners.
Entrepreneurs.

Millions of people who fund the system every single day.

If we are the funders, sponsors and clients of the state, how can a Budget discussion about our money happen without clearly telling us:

What are taxpayers asking for?
Who represents them?
What feedback has been received?
What will actually be considered?

A government cannot call something a “consultation” if the conversation effectively flows only one way.

We don't expect every demand to be accepted.

We expect something much simpler:

Listen. Publish. Explain. Respond.

If taxpayers are expected to be accountable for every rupee they earn, the government should be accountable for every rupee it collects.

Budget 2027-28 shouldn't just be a Budget for taxpayers.

It should be a Budget shaped, at least in part, with taxpayers.

The conversation has started.
Now let's make sure taxpayers are actually part of it.

If I pay ₹10 lakh in TDS every year on average , that’s ₹2 crore by 2047.

After paying all that, I’ll still have to pay my own hospital bills and other basic expenses out of pocket.
