Earlier today, I had the pleasure of flagging-off the 2024 Tree Planting Campaign, at Kwankwasiyya City, Kano.
Emphasizing the role trees play in preserving ecology, the campaign aims to plant over 3 million trees, which distribution has commenced to various communities across Kano State.
I also used the occasion to issue a stern warning that individuals who fell trees indiscriminately without authorization will face prosecution in the state.
I also urged the private sector, civil society groups, and individuals to support the government’s efforts in maintaining a healthier and safer environment across the state.
We are grateful to The Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II for blessing the occasion with his presence, and for his call on the good people of Kano State to plant more trees and keep a healthier environment. - AKY
The quality and speed of the construction work on the two additional bridges/flyovers at Tal’udu and DanAgundi in Kano are so impressive. Both Tal’udu and DanAgundi areas are seeing the rise of modern infrastructure that will not only facilitate smoother transportation but also contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of our Kano city.
While the construction of these flyovers is good, but it is essential for Gov. Abba K. Yusuf to also look beyond flyovers and address other pressing challenges. Hopefully, after these two critical projects are constructed, the Governor’s focus will shift toward several critical areas that require his immediate attention.
In Kano, many of the existing roads are in a dilapidated state. Expanding and reconstructing these roads will improve the transportation and also enhance safety and connectivity within the city.
Kano, particularly the metropolitan area, is really dirty. I am well aware that that doesn’t start with Gov. Abba Yusuf, but we are all hoping for him to do better. We all know that a cleaner city contributes to the well-being of its residents and the environment.
The most critical area that needs the government's immediate intervention is solving water shortages; water scarcity remains a lingering issue in Kano. Addressing this challenge by developing sustainable water supply systems and infrastructure will significantly improve the quality of life for the residents.

My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.
As it’s customary in Kwankwasiyya; Yesterday, I joined our Leader, Sen. @KwankwasoRM, to receive Sallah greetings from different groups of supporters and well-wishers.
We were indeed roundly entertained by the great talents on display at the event. - AKY
