And instead of developing indigenous thorium capability through our own DAE scientists, NTPC signs a deal with a US firm (CCTE) to import thorium fuel technology; for reactors sitting right on top of India’s own thorium.

Read that again.

We have the world’s thorium. We couldn’t build our own reactor in 20 years. But we passed a law in 3 days to open the sector to a crony.
This isn’t policy failure. This is policy design.

Kakodkar is a patriot shouting into a void. The government isn’t abandoning thorium out of neglect; it’s abandoning Indian ownership of thorium, on purpose.

It was great to welcome the great nuclear scientist, RGSTC Commission Chairman, Maharashtra Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Anil Kakodkar ji, at my official residence in Mumbai, this morning.
We had a very good discussion on many aspects and activities of the Commission and impact created through both - the Academic and Research centres in the State.
BETIC Project on BioMedical Devices, ⁠BioDiversity Project, Jaggery Research Centre, MSME- RGSTC internship, were some of the projects that were discussed.
I appreciate the 'Decentralised Research promotion' which will bring more and more students towards research work.
Assured all support from GoM especially in projects like Medicinal plants (End-to-End Tech development), Bamboo in Green Economy, Soil Health and Soil Migration using landslides study.
Initiatives to encourage school children towards research would also be boosted through SIAC (Science Innovation and Activity Centres) across the State.

You, having represented this constituency for so many years, need no introduction to the urgent and critical needs of many areas in this constituency. Mahadevpura, which generates the maximum revenue in Bangalore, is in your constituency. However the civic conditions here are too pathetic to do credit to your several terms as MP of this area. This area needs capex boost to improve infrastructure and meet the very basic requirements of civilised living standards.

The human tragedies as a result of the terrible infrastructure here are many. Just to refresh your memory, a lady & her young child were burned to death by a dangling electricity wire not long ago. People fall in potholes and die. Sewage and water flows on the roads, while our lakes are dry.

We hope that, at least in this term, you will represent your loyal citizens with more emphasis in Parliament, enable factors to bring this area up to be on par with areas like the CBD in Bangalore. We are happy to partner with the MPs office to bring the much-needed change to our part of Bangalore.
