#GeneralDhirajSeth, #COAS, reviewed the operational readiness of Indian Army formations during his two-day visit to North-East on 28-29 Jul 2026. He was briefed on the prevailing security situation and assessed the operational preparedness of formations in the Eastern Theatre. During the visit, the COAS witnessed the latest technology absorption initiatives and indigenous innovations and interacted with troops, commended them for their professionalism, operational commitment and unwavering dedication.

The #COAS also called on the Hon'ble Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Lok Bhavan and Hon'ble Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri Yumnam K. Singh, where matters pertaining to security and development in the State were discussed.

He later attended the opening of the Imphal leg of the 135th #IndianOilDurandCup, highlighting the tournament's role in nurturing sporting talent, promoting youth engagement and fostering unity across the North East.

During the ongoing visit, #COAS also took stock of the Indian Army's efforts in the ongoing flood relief operations in #Assam. He directed the formation commanders to provide all possible assistance in supporting flood-affected communities across the state.

The #COAS was briefed on the operational deployment, infrastructure development in forward areas, indigenous modernisation and technology-driven capability enhancement. He also reviewed measures to strengthen combat readiness and community outreach initiatives promoting peace and development across the #NorthEast.

Interacting with personnel of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and CAPFs, the #COAS lauded their selfless commitment during #HADR and nation-building initiatives.

General Dhiraj Seth, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), is visiting the Eastern Command to assess the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness of formations.

During his visit to the Trishakti Corps on 14 and 15 July 2026, the COAS was briefed on the operational situation in the Eastern Command. The General Officer Commanding, Trishakti Corps, apprised him of operational deployments, surveillance architecture and current security dynamics. General Dhiraj Seth also reviewed initiatives related to technology absorption, capability enhancement and force modernisation being undertaken.

On 15 July 2026, the COAS also visited Bengdubi Military Station, where he assessed the regional security arrangements and reviewed operational logistics.

General Dhiraj Seth subsequently visited the Spear Corps and evaluated its operational preparedness. He was briefed on the evolving operational environment, inter-agency coordination and measures being undertaken to further enhance combat readiness. He also reviewed community outreach initiatives aimed at promoting peace, stability and development across the North East.

Interacting with commanders and troops, the COAS outlined his vision of “VIJAY”, founded on vigilance, innovation, jointness, Atmanirbharta and Yodha First. He emphasised that these principles would enable the Indian Army to remain agile, adaptive and future-ready while contributing to the Viksit Bharat Vision 2047. The COAS commended all ranks for their professionalism, high morale, operational excellence and unwavering commitment while serving under challenging conditions.

The Battle of the Jubar–Kukarthang Complex reached its decisive phase during the Kargil War. On 08 Jul 1999, the brave soldiers of 17 GARHWAL RIFLES, 1 BIHAR and 1/11 GORKHA RIFLES launched the final assaults to secure the dominating heights. 17 GARHWAL RIFLES captured Bump-I, 1 BIHAR wrested Tharu after fierce fighting, and 1/11 GORKHA RIFLES stormed and secured Kukarthang, breaking the enemy's defensive grip on the complex.

The Gunners of 4 Field Regiment, 15 Field Regiment, 141 Field Regiment, 255 Field Regiment and 212 Rocket Regiment delivered relentless and devastating fire on enemy positions across the Jubar and Kukarthang Ridges, enabling the Infantry to achieve its objectives.

By 09 Jul 1999, the enemy had been completely evicted from the Jubar and Kukarthang Ridges, marking another decisive victory during Operation VIJAY.

India remembers with pride and gratitude. 🇮🇳
