I have built a business with a lifetime revenue of over $600k in two years.

Four years ago, I was working a 9-5 job, enjoying a really good work-life balance. The salary wasn't high, but I was hoping to get a better salary with my next job switch. I never thought of starting my own business because life was good (or so I thought).

This all changed when COVID hit, and layoffs started happening. I was working at a company that had never laid off anyone, so I wasn't worried. But one afternoon, HR texted everyone for a meeting. In that meeting, our CEO announced they were going to lay off 5 people and would inform them by email. Having recently joined the company, I thought I would be one of the five to go. My heart sank.

It was a disgusting feeling. The next hour was the most difficult hour of my professional career. But, luckily, I was not the one to be laid off.

At that moment, I decided never to feel like that again. EVER. I changed my habits and started taking freelancing seriously (I was doing small gigs part-time on Upwork). In the next three months, I landed a good contract from Upwork and left my job. I was freelancing full-time, which eventually became an agency. Today, we have 30 people working at @divedeepai.

I know many of you might feel stuck in your job or may have experienced similar things. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Just keep working on your side project and make it so big that you don't need a job anymore.
