@PiousMaverick@THEORTHOCHAT I read the article… it quotes apostasy from the church as a way to depart salvation. It also clearly states that God is the judge. So to say that there is no salvation outside of orthodoxy seems to lack nuance at the least…Yet seems blatantly wrong in truth.
@PiousMaverick@THEORTHOCHAT Didn’t the priest ascertain exactly that question? Did I misunderstand him saying there is no salvation outside of the Orthodox Church?
@verrnert@fyrewede Even Luther states that fasting before communion is a good practice. Sadly the churches don’t really teach that as much as they should
@LaneAndrew4@rabbriansamuel You really think that Paul, Peter and Jesus would say the same thing? This is divisive and contradictory to the Gospel in John, Paul’s Gospel and Peter’s Gospel to the Jewish people.
@catholicpat For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
If we are saved by works of any kind, how can it remain a gift? Grace saved through faith.
Ephesians 2:10. Saved for works.
@suspenddeznutz @metathomist I’ve noticed that but haven’t looked into the history of that for myself yet! I hope you would consider not calling a catholic worshipper of Jesus false. I think we can disagree on doctrines but hold unity through Christ. I think Jesus makes it clear, in this aspect
@suspenddeznutz @metathomist Isn’t claiming that the work of God is satanic a form of blaspheming God? I’m not a catholic and I think they likely are not following scripture perfectly. But they worship Jesus Christ. Not satan. I would be hesitant to make that sort of statement myself
