The Grand Mufti and a Noble Scholar of Saudi Arabia, the Head of the Council of Senior Scholars, Shaikh ʿAbdul-ʿAziz Ibn Abdullāh bin Muhammad Ālush-Shaikh, has passed away.

May Allah have mercy upon him, give him steadfastness in his grave, forgive him his sins, and enter him into the highest levels of Paradise.

He was from the descendants of Shaikh al-Islām, the Reviver of the Religion, Al-Imām, Muhammad Ibn ʿAbdul-Wahhāb (born in 1703 and died in 1792 CE, rahimahullāh).

"King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have extended their condolences to the family of Sheikh Abdul-ʿAziz, the Saudis, and the wider Islamic world."

Ibn al-Qayyim (d. 752H) stated in Iʿlām al-Muwaqqiʿīn:

"The scholars on earth have the same station as the stars in the sky—the bewildered ones are guided by way of them in the depths of darkness. The need of the people for them is greater than their need for food and drink. And obedience to them holds a greater obligation than obedience to their mothers and fathers according to the text of the Book [of Allāh]..."
