If you still need a bank account to buy things online, you're doing it wrong
I bought a year of X Premium with USDC on @ump_eth
No credit card. No KYC. Just a wallet.
Funds held in escrow until delivery. Arbiter handles disputes if anything goes wrong.
Sellers are already listing subscriptions and collectibles.
What would you buy or sell?
Unbanked? No problem!
You can now buy 1 year of X Premium on @ump_eth using USDC, and we’ll "gift" you a premium sub!
We know how tough it can be to access online services without a bank account. And this where P2P and smart contracts shine!
Here’s how it works:
1⃣ You send USDC to an escrow smart contract.
2⃣ The seller delivers your X Premium subscription.
3⃣ You confirm everything’s good, and the payment is released.
If there’s an issue, you can open a dispute. A human arbiter will step in to resolve it. They can issue refunds (full or partial), depending on the issue.

Want X Premium but don't want to pay with a credit card?
Use UMP to pay via USDC on Base and a seller will "gift" you X Premium.
Your payment is held in an escrow smart contract and will be returned if there are payment issues.

We don't have any 100 BTC bars...
But if you want to get into cryptocurrency collectibles, check out this historic cryptocurrency collectibles storefront on UMP.

Scam/Hack attempts we've dealt with so far:
🇰🇵3 DPRK IT Worker job applicants
🇰🇵1 DPRK fake VC
🇷🇺1 Russian fake VC
🇺🇸1 American fake journalist
We spend all of our time designing secure cryptoeconomic schemes to disincentivize scams. Stop trying to scam us lol.
On Tuesday, a group of hackers reached out to me via DM, pretending to be a journalist.
They were attempting to hack me on a Zoom call using a clever method that has already been used to steal millions of dollars.
Learn details of the attack and how to protect yourself🧵
@AsafNadler Easy. If anybody has $85 in USDC on Base, and needs X Premium, it's now listed on UMP.
Funds are held in a 2-of-3 multisig contract for 21 days, so in the unlikely event something goes wrong, you'll be refunded. Disputes are arbitrated by @Barabazs_.

In 2018, @cryptograffiti set the record for least expensive artwork ever sold.
We're building auctions for @ump_eth. @Barabazs_ is crushing the UI right now.
I'm confident someone using our platform will smash cryptograffiti's record -- the trick is using ETH instead of BTC🤪
We think third party doctrine sucks.
That's why we build a set of eCommerce smart contracts where third parties don't see your data.
When you buy something using UMP, your shipping information is end-to-end encrypted so only the seller sees it.
The third-party doctrine says that any time you voluntarily share info with a third party you have no reasonable expectation of privacy whatsoever. Today @coinbase filed an amicus brief with the US Supreme Court to right this wrong. 1/3
Breaking: New scam meta launched. Now they’re sending physical letters to the @Ledger addresses database leak requesting an ‘upgrade’ due to a security risk.
Be very cautious and warn any friends or family that you know is in crypto and is not that savvy.
We often highlight how smooth and easy it is to buy things with UMP.
But it's also one of the most private ways to shop online.
When you buy through centralized eCommerce platforms, your personal data doesn’t just go to the seller—it’s shared with payment processors, customer support platforms, fraud prevention services, and a long list of other intermediaries. Many of these companies store your data indefinitely, sell it to third parties, or leave it vulnerable to hacks and data breaches.
With UMP, only the seller receives your information—and only the data they need to ship your order. Your shipping address is end-to-end encrypted with the seller’s private key. To further protect buyers, we built a custom encryption scheme called Hermes, which introduces additional encryption via a secret key or password selected by the seller.
Sellers are encouraged to rotate their Hermes password frequently to limit the exposure of encrypted messages in the event of a compromise. Hermes also includes message padding to prevent metadata attacks like message length analysis.
If you need to communicate with the seller or file a dispute with an arbiter, those messages are also end-to-end encrypted using @xmtp_ , keeping sensitive information private even during dispute resolution.
For maximum privacy, we recommend funding your wallet with privacy-preserving tools like @0xbowio's Privacy Pools and using a PO Box for deliveries. You can also use a pseudonym when providing your shipping information if needed.
And we’re not stopping here. We’re actively working on new privacy features, including IPFS-hosted storefronts to eliminate centralized hosting risks, and anonymous, Sybil-resistant reviews to protect buyer identities while maintaining trust and transparency.
Privacy isn’t just a feature on UMP—it’s the foundation. 🔒
I just had my first magical crypto crypto experience in a while, purchasing wassie stickers on @ump_eth. Crypto being crypto, was expecting a learning period on UX front. It took under 30 seconds end to end. They just released their mini app on farcaster, highly recommend. https://t.co/foKRYulBn6
@CryptoExpert101 We're designing a new sibyl-resistant review system with Uniswap V4 hooks but realistically it's going to take months before auditing is complete.
