@ellonico I lived in Appalachia for several years and I've also been all around Japan, Germany, and Britain. There are parts of those countries that feel much poorer. And there are parts of Germany and Britain that feel much sketchier.
@wolftivy When no adult other than your parents has ever taken a sincere interest in your welfare, or expressed interest in helping you achieve goals, it is hard to recognize when that is happening.
@Empty_America@Arbor_Bench@herandrews has the receipts here if you care for them. Importing peoples with drastically different norms around education and upbringing changes the shape of the opportunity landscape dramatically. Strategies that were once adaptive cease to be.
@CWingUexkull If you actually do the reading you come out of that knowing more about culture and history than 99% of people. Teaching and conferences get you talking in front of an audience regularly (not that most people bother to improve). And university towns are often great places to live.
@jamesgcel@RichardDawkins Is there an example of a white professor who was not only guilty of research fraud, but who also claimed to be a world-class athlete, the victim of fantastical hate crimes, to work for universities that never hired him, and to have been mute until 11 and illiterate until 18?
@JacobAShell Said deserves blame here. Robert Irwin's critique of him is spot on. A man who deplored caricatures of the Middle East created a caricature of Western literature. And now the caricature is all that's taught. He became the very thing he railed against.
@zei_squirrel One group blows up arenas full of kids in Manchester, and drives cars into Christmas Markets across Europe. There's no need for a conspiracy, man. People object to that kind of behavior. If Jewish people were beheading teachers in the streets of Paris then you'd get your debate.
@fagmyer@JacobAShell@HjgTweet Carole Hooven, Tim Hunt, Noah Carl, Alessandro Strumia, David Sabatini, Bryan Pesta, James Enstrom, Bo Winegard, Peter Ridd... There are examples of people on the left getting fired/suspended as well, but we can't pretend that the leftist monoculture hasn't throttled careers.
@pissvortex What you call "cases that do not conform to your hypothesis" is what the medical community calls "clinical disorders". And trying to use outliers to disprove the existence of a clear bimodal distribution is the definition of a flawed methodology.
@eugyppius1@jollier_raptor Raising lots of humans is difficult, dirty, tiresome work. That's true. Also true: for the median guy on the right, this is probably a better use of a limited lifespan than rereading the Evola wiki page and poasting memes.
@HarperTeapot@eugyppius1 To be fair, having seven children would likely result in a larger effect on the future electorate than the median poaster's greatest bangers.
@acteduweininger Love is good man. Building a dynasty you'd die to defend is good. I like BAP but the guy is over 50. Becoming an honest-to-goodness patriarch is a healthy transition for men on the right and spares you becoming a quinquagenarian best-known for posting photos of shirtless guys.
@capt_mcglue@MyopicEeyore@acteduweininger "He keeps his family life and public life separate" - Sir, are you on drugs? Love him or hate him his family is totally involved in his business.
@bronzeagemantis My man having seven kids in a 1.6 TFR society is freakshow tier performance art. As GPT would say: this isn't Karl Rove; it's Marina Abramovic meets the Medici.
