Should we let all immigrants in?
This provocative question will drive one of the key debates at LibertyCon International, which will take place February 7-8 in Washington, DC.
Bryan Caplan will argue in favor, emphasizing the moral and economic benefits of open immigration.
Daniel DiMartino will take the opposite side, advocating for more selective policies that prioritize skilled immigrants and address the challenges of low-skilled immigration.
This timely discussion delves into the role of immigrants in shaping nations, balancing economic outcomes, and upholding liberty.

Nigeria’s “Japa movement” must now evolve from the excitement of being in a new country to picking off the books of the Lebanese, Chinese, Indians and Jews.
We’ve been japaing for over 100 years, about time we pursue economic dominance abroad instead of just being grateful to be welcomed in. That’s the next level. That’s the layer we need to crack.
It will take an intentional plan to do so. But we can’t even get started if we stay making noise about arriving in these countries like we are the only country with such movements when through out human history, this is the norm. And even today, we aren’t top 3. We need to be less excited about things others see as the norm and start pursuing things that ought to actually excite.

FRENCH soldiers in Niger are itching to act. Sadly, there has to be a real, plausible cause for any intervention by them, on ground in Niger. It’s either ECOWAS starts something & they join in or a rebel group in favor of Bazoum starts a fire somewhere, or something. Other than that, their skills and weapons are gonna continue to waste away as they near the deadline for their departure from the Sahel country.
So, evidently, France and the west are losing their cool. They now know that as far as ECOWAS is concerned, no reasonable action may ever be taken to free Bazoum. Even the US State Department has issued another release, probably the second or third one since the coup, asking frantically for Bazoum to be released. The collective west is desperate and it shows.
So, if ECOWAS isn’t acting, owing to the potential cataclysmic nature of any strike in Niger, if France claims that it’s foreign policy no longer allows it to unilaterally carry out military strikes on even colonies in AFRICA, without provocation, and if there’s no consensus on a United EU/NATO action as was the case with Libya, what do you think is their last game plan? I’ll tell you: The Stubborn Ambassador!
They know what he’s doing is the height of insanity and insolence. They know his attitude smacks of the lowest grade of madness. They know his arrogance is highly provocative and can’t be tolerated in most parts of the world. They know all these. But what do they do? They nudge him on. They cheer and praise him as the colonial hero of the African “no man’s land.” Its a bloody shame but beyond the shame of the sham, this is a set up. They want our people to move in forcefully so the French military will be activated and then scuffles, and then attacks and counterattacks and then, western help is called and Nigerien/Wagner/Burkina Faso/Mali plus force respond then the full blown war that we’ve been trying to avoid is finally unleashed. It won’t make sense but after a few days in, it’ll be accepted as normal and in the end, as I’ve always feared, it is us who will lose big. But God will forbid it.
My suggestion: Since they’ve already cut off power and water supply to the embassy and stopped supplies from getting in, they can impose a no-fly zone over the embassy and literally turn it into a prison for the stubborn guy, but don’t engage in any forceful removal of Itte. Mobilize Nigeriens to relocate to the embassy round about and literally live there. If possible, set up tents and sleep and wake from around the embassy. Civil action is what I’m talking about. But let not the military police extract him forcefully. They’re setting us up. But we are wiser. Africa will win this!

More than 3.5 million lives could be saved in the EU alone over the next decade if Swedish tobacco-related death rates were mirrored in other countries.
