The legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen lives on through Tuskegee University’s aviation program, where students are learning to fly on the same path forged by these trailblazing heroes. Their courage opened the skies, and a new generation is rising in their honor.

Did you know George Washington Carver was also an artist?
At the age of 30, Carver gained acceptance to Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, where he was the first Black student. Carver studied piano and art.
He overcame slavery to achieve fame as a scientist, botanist and educator. He invented over 300 uses for peanuts and he’s responsible for much more.
He's credited for the idea of crop rotation to improve soil health.
Alberta Odell Jones broke barriers in the courtroom and was deeply involved in the Civil Rights Movement, only to have her life violently stolen at 34. She gave everything for justice, yet never received her own. We must keep her legacy alive.

Memorial Day began in part with Black Americans honoring Union soldiers — many of them Black — who died fighting to end slavery. This holiday was born from Black remembrance. Let’s not forget the Black soldiers who gave everything — even as their country denied them everything.
