Pope Leo sat with the pilots of a flight from Madrid to Barcelona on the second leg of his Spain tour. The pontiff was invited aboard by one of the captains, and waved at Spanish Air Force fighter jet pilots escorting the plane https://t.co/pbv4UuLWFo
Today we celebrate World Press Freedom Day, sponsored by UNESCO. Unfortunately, this right is often violated, sometimes flagrantly, sometimes in hidden ways. Let us remember the many journalists and reporters who are victims of war and violence.

Most Rev. Mitchell T. Rozanski, Archbishop of @archstl, reflects on the Chrism Mass and its place in Holy Week.
During the Chrism Mass, the bishop gathers with his priests, deacons, religious, and the faithful of the diocese to bless and consecrate the sacred oils that sustain the sacramental life of the Church. Through them, the grace of Jesus flows through His Church to His priests and people.

A lesson--"pastoral mandate"--from a #deacon shared by @RochDiocese Bishop John S. Bonnici': "He encouraged me—and all who serve—to do our best to patiently listen to each story, to humbly learn from it and, like Jesus, to love unconditionally. #Catholic https://t.co/IwUJp68XuX
“St. Joseph was there for Jesus and Mary. Surely, he also had things to say, but none of his words are recorded in the Bible. We do not honor St. Joseph because of anything he said. We honor him for what he did.”

@frjoshTX Lay men in our Tuesday night scripture study of the mass readings for the upcoming Sunday asked this of me last year. I emphasized how the preacher is a conduit of the Holy Spirit and knows best the spiritual needs/status of the assembly—not an algorithm.
Now is when we need leaders; as yet we have none. This will get worse until someone breaks ranks and speaks truth. I fear our country hangs in the balance. I fear those who don’t see it. Lord, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Speechlessly sad for our country today.
@Pontifex on the “scourge of gambling” is another example of the Church standing by clear social science, by the undeniable evidence that gambling is really bad. Yet the sophisticated, conditioned to think anything the Church says is religious, will ignore it for being religious.

Fate attenzione a non usare categorie politiche per parlare di fede. La #Chiesa non appartiene ad alcun partito politico; piuttosto, aiuta a formare la vostra coscienza affinché possiate pensare e agire con saggezza e amore.
It happens. When I’m tempted to yell at someone, I always take a breath and think that maybe this person had just been yelled at by someone else and that maybe I’d be this person’s last straw, that my unkindness would hurt them more than my frustration is worth. Then I’m kinder.

Every place we’re tempted to draw back from Jesus and withdraw into ourselves—there’s the “distance” in our own hearts between Jesus and us. And whatever that distance is, that’s how far we need to travel between where we are & heaven, writes @abp_rozanski https://t.co/KkfY36ue2G
Multiple times a day, I am getting asked this question:
Is there a religious revival happening in America?
I walk through the math of what that would actually look like here 👇👇👇

For #WorldDayofMigrantsandRefugees, Bishop Seitz shares, "Immigrants are pilgrims of hope. They have so much to teach us...We do benefit so much from the faith of our immigrant brothers and sisters, from the perseverance that they show, from the goodness and charity they show even despite their poverty...We're all called to be migrants...from here to heaven."
