So, my childhood friend is a successful bartender, and one day he invited me to his workplace, Hillpark Hotel, for an end-of-year cultural night.

The only problem ni kwamba sikuwa na pesa ya Uber to Upperhill, leave alone buying traditional attire for the event. 😭🤣Nikajipata nimevaa some cute pink dress zile za Roysambu, nikapanda lopha hadi Odeon. By the time nilikuwa naorder cab, nguo ilikuwa imevutwa uzi, ikararuka nyuma! 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣

Imagine the dilemma. Kurudi home nibadilishe nguo ama niendelee na safari? The rich boyfriend fantasies were too strong. Nikajipea nguvu nikaenda. 😂😂😂

Now, picture this.Ukifika Hillpark, a soldier opens your cab door, you are escorted inside, then you take a lift depending on the bar you’re going to.
Mimi naingia na nguo imeraruka nyuma, sina heels za kucompete na cute girlies, na hata waiters walikuwa wanakaa better dressed than me. 😭😭🤣

But one thing about me? I will always find a way to enjoy myself. Mimi nilikuwa nimekuja kula, kunywa na maybe kupata sponsor. The mission had to continue. 😂😂😂

Kuingia kwa hiyo bar, I realised hii haikuwa ile kawaida ya Thika Road. Hakuna watu wanacheza kwa meza, hakuna kelele za club, hakuna madame wanazunguka kwa tables. Watu wameketi wawili wawili, networking, classy cocktails kila mahali, kila mtu anaonekana ako na investments mahali. 😭🤣

Nikaketi kwa counter.Nikakula vizuri, nikapiga picha nzuri, nikakunywa cocktails mpaka nikaanza kufeel kama nimezaliwa kwa family ya diplomats. 😂😂😂🥂DJ akiweka good music, mimi naanza kudance na watu huko. Nguo imeraruka nyuma lakini vibes ziko mbele! 😭😭🤣🤣🤣

Did I embarrass myself? Yes.
Did I embarrass my friend? Most definitely. 😂😂😂Did I have a good time? ABSOLUTELY!

And honestly, that remains one of my favourite memories. Not because everything went perfectly, but because I was young, broke, ambitious, delusional in the cutest way possible, and determined to enjoy life regardless. ❤️🤣

Sometimes I look back at the things I did and just laugh. Maisha nimeishi mingi, jameni. 😂😂😂

The dress was fighting for its life, my finances were in ICU, but my spirit? OLD MONEY. 😭😭🤣🥂
