Show up tomorrow to support Toy Slaughter and Kenny West, two protesters who are still facing charges from the 2020 Uprisings after George Floyd’s murder. Room 514 in the Allegheny County Courthouse.
Rest in Peace, Zach! Please support a KC housing activist and leader who lost her son last Saturday. Solidarity to the family and our allies in KC Tenants.
We are heartbroken to share the news that one of our leaders, Ashley Johnson, lost her five year old son Zach last Saturday. Zach was one of our littlest leaders, a frequent participant in strategy meetings and direct actions.
Please support the family: https://t.co/tssH3sm0Fh
Hey everyone. We bring bad news that the family was the victim of an assault in downtown LA on Thanksgiving. As the family was waiting for the bus to go home, they were the victims of a seemingly random attack, their wallets and phones were stolen.
This adds yet another obstacle to his commitment to being an activist with the housing struggle in LA. We ask that you give to the campaign, even if it's a small donation. We want his family to be stable and for our dear friend to return to organizing others to resist #evictions
The only way to solve both of these struggles is by getting to the root cause. In short, the only way to solve the housing and homeless question is by changing society that is controlled by capitalism into one that is directly controlled by the working people.
We rap up our commemoration of #Engels on the 201st anniversary of his birth with our last article on the developments in San Marcos:

especially fighting for the demand to turn over empty government-owned buildings to the people in need!
But even then, that is not enough. In fighting for these demands, the fight must be tied to the larger struggle for social revolution.
It's so bad that even the City stepped in to temporarily halt the owners from collecting rent through a bureaucratic program called the Rent Escrow Account Program. But the City stepping in hasn't solved their problems, and rent is still due. New landlord, same problems!
Management, West Properties LA, tricked the tenant into a verbal agreement allegedly waiving the eviction for non-payment against her. Shortly after, she was served an #eviction notice.

#Tenants have been dealing with leaky pipes, water damage, black mold, and so on, for years. Even with some tenants under Section 8 government-subsidized housing, management has been negligent. So much so, that the building is on the verge of losing the government funding.
From Reverie Tenants Union in #Indianapolis, we publish this piece. We continue to honor #Engels on the 201st anniversary of his birth (Nov. 28) by highlighting their struggle against #landlords and the state that defense them.

Through this conversation we learned about a recent rezoning ordinance on the periphery of the neighborhood that would lead to evicting poor on-street trailer residents and aid real estate investment in the neighborhood.
