At first I was dismayed at the nature of the response this one got. Haven't heard words like that in a while. But hell, y'all. That's why you gotta keep saying it.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed into law SB 129, a bill banning DEI offices, programming and training in public colleges and other state agencies. The NAACP and prominent city mayors are telling Black athletes not to come to colleges in Alabama and Florida, which has a similar law. Here’s a look at what it means and how it will affect programs in Alabama. The law takes effect Oct. 1.
In 1963 AL Gov. George Wallace proclaimed “Segregation today, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever.” Now, 61 years later the Alabama legislature is still heeding his call, this time with legislation to prohibit DEI programs and teaching “divisive concepts.” But these students don’t want any part of it and showed up at the Statehouse to turn Wallace’s words around. Turn up the volume to hear what a little #GoodTrouble sounds like.
The final amount is in. The State of Alabama will spend $1.082 billion for a new prison, the most expensive prison ever built in the United States. $270,500 per bed.
🚨AL MOVES IS ON OUR WAY TO THE STATE HOUSE🚨

Tonight people across the state are gathered at the Alabama Capitol and Dexter Ave. Baptist Church to recognize all those who have died in @ALCorrections custody, contest new mega prisons, and to call on lawmakers to take real accountability and action. It’s beyond time.
I’m still trying to process the fact a man was killed in the Walker Co. jail because they froze him to death. The savages truly run our jails and prisons and I don’t know how we can’t see incarceration in Alabama as a death sentence.
Yesterday, a man asked me on behalf of his daughter how do I respond to people who wld label me an angry Black woman. I said I'd say: You're right. Anger is a perfectly normal emotion right now. We have to stop being so concerned abt civility in response to uncivil circumstances.
I was making 12 cents an hour teaching people in prison how to use Microsoft on computers. While my White supervisor made nearly 6 figures to "supervise" me do it.
That is what they mean by modern day slavery.
Today, we’re publishing @ACLUAlabama’s 2022 Statehouse-to-Prison Pipeline report. This is an important analysis, perhaps now more than ever. It underscores lawmakers’ failure to address the prison crisis and their pursuit of punishment, not justice.

Journalists are tasked with putting legacies into full context, so it is entirely appropriate to examine the queen and her role in the devastating impact of continued colonialism.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, WE MADE HISTORY!
My name is Justin Jones. I’m a 26 year-old community organizer, been arrested over 14 times for good trouble, and I look forward to serving as the next state representative of District 52 (the most diverse district in TN).
PEOPLE POWER!
Alabama's AG says the state has killed Joe Nathan James Jr. The press release doesn't mention that James suffered from severe mental illness or that the victim's children forgave him and asked @GovernorKayIvey & @AGSteveMarshall to stop the execution. Let's elect better people.
