@AndrewSparrow Unite leafleting outside CBI conference this morning. One of the speakers is Sean Doyle CEO of BA. Cleaners cleaning BA offices are on poverty wages. Lots of chat about growth - how is CEO getting £2mil bonus & cleaners on £12.21ph good for growth or economy?
@alisonleary1@HeathrowAirport There’s ongoing strike action by @WilsonJamesLtd workers with Unite, 30 April was a strike day. @HeathrowAirport could choose to end disruption & ensure fair pay for vital PRM assistance work. @alisonleary1 sure you agree these workers shouldn’t be struggling to afford to live.
Solidarity with the Heathrow @British_Airways cleaners on strike for fair pay.
“It is rank hypocrisy for OCS to boast about being a real living wage employer when its BA staff are on poverty wages and having to use foodbanks.” @UniteSharon
Hey, @LeggeRob! 👋 OCS cleaners working in @British_Airways offices at Heathrow are on strike from today. Despite your company seeking living wage accreditations for directly employed staff, these cleaners are struggling on the minimum wage.
Will you intervene to sort this out?
We have had examples of housing and social care providers failing to pay but being acredited. @UniteSharon called on the foundation to clean up its act and stop “ethics washing” the reputation of companies such as OCS. https://t.co/ZbsdO9BuAn
Living Wage Foundation accrediting firms like OCS not paying the living wage. “We have been fighting for a pay rise for three years. We have written letters, spoken to managers. No one has taken any action so we have all joined the union to fight back.” https://t.co/K6h29OGMGR

OCS cleaners at British Airways HQ & Heathrow get poverty pay.
The Living Wage Foundation accredits OCS a Living Wage Employer, concealing the reality.
The workers are in @unitetheunion & balloting to strike to fight for fair pay.

The Living Wage Foundation model is deeply flawed. It lowers benchmarks to encourage accreditation and keep itself growing while effectively undermining collective bargaining. The effect is to establish a new Wage ceiling. The only answer is to free unions.
