@TheAnnaGat This is definitely true for me too, though I don't read a lot of fiction. Usually mine are about 2-4 years, but they last longer as I've gotten older, presumably because the novelty of life wears off and new discoveries/intellectual journeys are less frequent/harder to come by
@azpeacemakers I got this album on cassette for Christmas in '96 (I was 11). There isn't a song that I don't love, but Mekong is my favourite.
My favourite memory is listening to the album on a 5-hour train ride to Moosonee, in Northern Ontario, over and over on my auto-reversible walkman.
@meghan_daum Why would this being a bit be punk?
Does this seem to you to be an aberration of punk rock? It seems pretty ideologically consistent with many strands of punk.
@cbrennansports what's the substantial difference between "respectfully declines comment" and "declines comment"?
that single added word almost makes the non-comment comment that much worse ... like its addition somehow makes the evasion more acceptable.
@TheAnnaGat Not quite the same, but I had a pair of shoes that went with me to Venezuela, Canada (home country), and a bunch of countries in Europe ... had them for 6 years ... I got super emotional throwing them out.
Good Merrells are so reliable!
@SketchesbyBoze I've been writing a journal for (somehow) 22 years. It can be exhausting at times, but it can be very grounding, and it allows me to relive joyful experiences. It highlights how many memorable (if you work to remember them) moments there are in a day.
