Watching Elon Musk this week has been a fascinating character study in the saviour complex of Western tech billionaires.
They arrive in your country selling you the future. Welcome them, and you’re a country that wants progress. Make them wait, and suddenly your people are victims who need rescuing from their own institutions by the chosen one.
It’s a pattern. When Thai rescuers didn’t use the mini-submarine Musk sent for the trapped boys, and diver Vernon Unsworth called the idea impractical, Musk attacked him as the “pedo guy.”
When Brazil’s Supreme Court ordered X to comply with its rulings, Musk called the judge a “dictator.”
The script rarely changes. Only the country does.
The colonial mindset isn’t always about wanting to rule a country. Sometimes it’s the assumption that you arrive as its saviour, and if the country doesn’t immediately recognise you as one, something must be wrong with the country.
Mr. Musk, yes, no billionaire should dictate a nation’s policy - Indian or American.
India must welcome competition in satellite internet, from Indian and global providers, whoever offers the most practical and affordable last-mile solution for those in remote regions. In countries with lower per-capita incomes, satellite internet must be affordable too. High subscription fees and equipment costs risk putting it beyond the reach of ordinary households. Connectivity must bridge the digital divide, not create a new one.
India knows our networks and spectrum are strategic infrastructure, not merely commercial assets. India’s national security safeguards are non-negotiable.
Every country makes choices based on its own interests. Those in the West cannot preach free markets while practicing protectionism at home. USA imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to protect its domestic industry, just as India takes measures to protect its own domestic manufacturers. Both India and the US have restricted Huawei over security concerns. One cannot demand a level playing field from others only when it suits its own agenda.
Indians will internally debate, question and address our strengths and shortcomings as a democratic country.
Take BharatNet, India’s programme to bring broadband to village-level local bodies. We will question why, as the CAG’s 2026 audit report found, the programme is struggling to meet its original objectives. Why were only 33.2% of service-ready Gram Panchayats operational, despite ₹39,888 crore being spent? At the same time, we know to appreciate our telecom sector and regulations, which has made internet data among the world’s most affordable, bringing millions online.
India is a democracy, not a colony. We welcome the world, but we, the Indian people, will decide our own future - not Western vested interests, their double standards or any billionaire - Indian or American.
VIDEO | Delhi: Chief Imam of the All India Imam Organisation, Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi says, "I am making an appeal and request to all the Muslims and especially to the Imams of the mosques. You know what the situation is going on in the country at present. Some anti-national forces want to spoil the peace in our country. A big conspiracy is being hatched to spoil the environment of the country by misleading people. I want to tell all the Muslims, those political parties who have called to join the protest on 10th and the way they have called, these protests are being carried out against the government, I want to tell the Muslims that we are not something to be used. Till date we Muslims have been used to this only. This is a very wise time. Any decision taken out of emotion is not right. Act wisely and wise decisions are very good."

My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.
Press Statement
The Central Tibetan Administration expresses deep concern over remarks made by Sonam Wangchuk in his recent public speech in Ladakh, in which he compared the situation in Ladakh with that of inside Tibet. CTA considers such a comparison misplaced and inaccurate. His statement doesn’t reflect the real situation inside Tibet. Tibet continues to remain under China’s authoritarian rule, where Tibetans face systematic repression of their fundamental rights, religious freedom; and intensification of measures aimed at erasing its distinct cultural identity.

This rise in anti-Jewish hatred has gotten out of control. What’s more? Hindus are increasingly targeted now by the very same groups.
It’s time for Hindus and Jews to unite against this madness and I’m proud to be playing an instrumental role in advancing this effort.
India’s economy maintained a solid pace of growth in the April-June quarter, showing resilience even as the Middle East conflict clouded the outlook. https://t.co/K0qRmVt1nR
Bhagwat ji has told Hindus that wanting Muslims erased is un-Hindu. Our response as Muslims cannot be applause alone. We must reject Islamist supremacy and contempt for Hindu faith with equal clarity. India’s pluralism cannot survive on Hindu restraint alone coexistence needs two signatures.
I stand with all Indian Americans🇮🇳 and the Hindu community who deserve better.
Nobody should have to deal with Islamist hate that seeks to divide + destroy. ENOUGH!

Hello @NYCMayor, we have some questions.
A Mayor commenting on a private Hindu community event is a rare occurrence. But your unusual intervention came after sustained lobbying by one of your campaign’s prominent financial bundlers. Her organization, @Hindus4HR, even received a grant from your office.
Is New York City taxpayer funding allied with the Mayor engaging in grassroots organizing and lobbying to oppose a private event acceptable?
Are NYC taxpayer dollars being used for political advocacy, lobbying, or protests targeting the Hindu American community?

COMMUNITY ADVISORY ALERT!
HAF is issuing this security alert in advance of the Universal Oneness Celebration at Madison Square Garden, in New York City. Stay vigilant, remain situationally aware, and keep interactions civil.
Ahead of the event, activists targeting Hindu Americans have attempted to disrupt and cancel the celebration. We urge @NYCMayor Zohran Mamdani to uphold his sworn duty to protect all New Yorkers, including event attendees, and guarantee everyone’s safety and civil rights. 🧵
Mayor Mamdani found time to oppose a Hindu gathering at Madison Square Garden.
Not traffic. Not crime. A Hindu event.
He is Muslim. Fine. He does not get to decide which faiths are allowed in the room.
Jews already know the pattern. Hindus just got the memo.
Christians should stop pretending they are exempt.
Quote this and tag someone who still calls him “inclusive.”

Rahul Gandhi is NO champion of women’s rights. He is simply a Hindu baiter, using the cause of women’s empowerment as a convenient smokescreen to target and discredit Hindu Dharma.
Consider this: how many times has he spoken with the same outrage against patriarchal and medieval practices that persist under Sharia ? NEVER.
While Sharia is foundational to Islamic jurisprudence, Manusmriti has no comparable scriptural authority in Hindu Dharma. It is not even a universally binding code for Hindus.
Yet ask yourself: how many times does Rahul Gandhi attack the Manusmriti, and how many times does he attack Sharia with the same fervour?
The enduring strength of Hinduism lies in its unique ability to evolve, reform and adapt with time- as it has for millennia, and as it will for eternity.
Every Hindu must therefore ask: what is Rahul Gandhi’s real intent- championing women’s rights, or using them as a pretext to malign Hindu Dharma?
Cong rhetoric on women’s rights rings hollow when measured against its own record.
They betrayed our mothers and sisters by reversing the effect of the Shah Bano judgment.
It opposed the law against Triple Talaq. And just to cling to power in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi ensured that not a single woman found a place in the State Cabinet.
So here is a simple challenge to Rahul Gandhi:
If women’s equality truly comes before politics, will he unequivocally support a Uniform Civil Code that guarantees equal rights irrespective of religion?
Or will his idea of “women’s rights” continue to begin and end with attacking Hinduism?
For India, @TheEconomist opines that Sharia law should be enforced alongside any Indian uniform civil codes.
For the UK, @TheEconomist opines that enforcing Sharia law alongside any British uniform civil codes "poses problems."
Rules for thee, but not for me? 🤔
