Success must be defined in terms of becoming. The journey isn’t to become a well polished product of great exploits for society to admire. It’s how far you’ve come from the darkness in your own soul. The growing and the healing.

Tension as Fuoye Staff Prevent Police Arrest of FUOYE Vice-Chancellor at His Residence in Ado-Ekiti
What began as an early-morning police operation at the residence of the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, on Wednesday quickly drew the attention of the university community, as staff and students converged on the premises in solidarity with the Vice-Chancellor.
The policemen reportedly arrived at about 6:10 a.m., according to Ogunwole, who said he was alerted by his children after they noticed security personnel around the residence.
The Vice-Chancellor told journalists that he initially declined to come out because he was unsure of the identity of the men and wanted to know why they were at his residence.
He said the policemen later told him they had a warrant, but he insisted on being informed of the basis for the proposed arrest.
Ogunwole linked the development to a petition allegedly filed by individuals connected with the university, including his predecessor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, and a former Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Kehinde Adeola.
According to him, the matter stemmed from an audio recording which allegedly leaked and subsequently led the university management to invite those concerned before an investigative committee.
He said the matter had since gone to court, while he had also petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over alleged threats to his life and workplace.
Ogunwole said his lawyers had engaged the police on the matter, adding that he remained willing to honour any lawful invitation.
Recalling a previous police invitation, he said he had appeared with his lawyers and was questioned for several hours before being released on self-recognisance.
He questioned the decision to surround his residence rather than invite him through other channels.
“Somebody of my calibre would not run away anywhere. Rather than surrounding my house, there are other better approaches to invite me,” he said.
Despite the incident, Ogunwole said his administration remained focused on its reform agenda.
“There is no turning back. Our mission to create a new face for FUOYE. No U-turn, no diversion. We are resolute,” he said.
The incident also triggered a show of solidarity from staff unions.
The FUOYE branch Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dr. Ojo Fagbuagun, said the union mobilised to the residence because it was concerned about what he described as an attempt to intimidate the Vice-Chancellor.
Fagbuagun alleged that some individuals associated with the previous administration were opposed to changes being introduced by the current management.
He also made allegations relating to promotion and financial management under the previous administration, though he did not provide supporting evidence during the briefing.
“We are here this morning to show the whole world that our VC cannot be intimidated,” he said.
The National Association of Academic Technologists and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions also expressed solidarity with the Vice-Chancellor.
The NAAT branch chairman, Comrade Oluwashola Babafemi, said members were concerned about maintaining peace and stability in the university, while NASU branch secretary, Comrade Emmanuel Adegun, said the union mobilised after receiving information about the presence of policemen at the Vice-Chancellor’s residence.
A non-teaching staff member, Victoria Adeyoju, similarly appealed for peace and good governance in the institution.
The circumstances surrounding the police operation remained a subject of discussion within the university community as of the time of filing this report.
@Farahakoko1@UyokRichard Even internationally. Dangote’s portfolio is attractive enough for them to be doing things just so they can get in business with him imo.
