@Therizman38@NoKneesDown Plenty people have and plenty more will. God given talent can only get you so far before running out of success. I’m not discrediting your work ethic, just may have understood the game in a more simple way. Which is fine
@Therizman38@NoKneesDown lol instant credibility. First person that I’ve heard try to grant that to themselves. Shouldn’t have even tried to discuss this with such an arrogant prick. Wasn’t trying to turn this into a shit show but some people just aren’t mature enough to talk with differing ideas.
@Cerk26@Therizman38@NoKneesDown High level throwers allow their bottom half to fire before the upper body. The lower half carries the load of force production into the throw. I hope we can agree on that. A pitcher that is creating a lot of force from their lower half has almost no choice but to finish that way
@Therizman38@NoKneesDown Ha, not blown away by your 2 year, over 12 Era career!! Just because you were talented doesn’t make you a good teacher. Plenty of former pros aren’t successful teachers because the don’t understand what made them good or how they performed certain tasks
@NoKneesDown Landing square to the plate isn’t quite that. Unless you don’t care of the quality of pitch, then you can land in fielding position as you ask the umpire for a new ball.
@NoKneesDown Let’s take a look at probably the greatest pitcher to ever do it. Does Nolan Ryan finish in “fielding position?” A high level thrower is creating tons of momentum towards the plate, they need to stop themselves in the most efficient way possible.
@Therizman38@NoKneesDown The “decel” portion of the throw is one of the most important parts. There’s a phrase used “you don’t build an engine more powerful than the breaks.” If guys are worried about being in fielding position, it completely takes away from what positions they can get into.
@Therizman38@NoKneesDown First off, you shouldn’t swear to God. I don’t think you quite understand high level pitching. For your arm to move fast, your body has to move fast at some point in the throw. You don’t throw hard with just your arm.
@JermaineCurtis If a team did that then they would have very little success. Theres a reason why that velo and slugging is valued so much. It’s cause it wins games. Power and velo give teams advantages. You don’t just pay a guy cause you want to change a trend, you pay them for performance.
@StanceDoctor Not discrediting the greatest hitter ever. But it’s just the same way Bill Russell wouldn’t make it in today’s NBA. Or how Babe Ruth wouldn’t have a prayer in today’s game. You can’t compare eras because athletes change.
@StanceDoctor Hitters today are conditioned to seeing higher velo. Bonds hit homers off guys throwing 84 mph fastballs. You don’t see 84 from pitchers nowadays.
