the art director on Obsession sharing her grief over the financial and labor state of the industry, pouring her heart out and all the top comments on her post are a bunch of nobodies with negative knowledge talking about “you knew the rate” like i hope you die actually
🔥 @ronnychieng at Harvard: “F*ck A.I. — the mission of your generation is to destroy it… shortcuts to skip to the end aren’t always good. The journey is the point of all this.”
still not quite over the fact that i watched 15 year olds get sued for millions of dollars for downloading twelve songs and now we all have to accept AI slop because every tech company in the known universe decided that IP laws don't exist now that they're inconvenient for them
@MysteryAdExec Same. I don’t care what this vocal teacher thinks of Chappell Roan. I don’t care that this grandma is listening to Charli XCX for the first time. I don’t care that these Gen Z have never heard Pearl Jam. It’s never interesting enough to spend 50 seconds of my life on it.
IATSE is ON STRIKE against CoComelon: The Melon Patch, a live-action spin-off of the union-made animated series.
Rather than provide fair wages and benefits to the crew the producer is trying to hire scabs for the production that’s shooting in Sun Valley, Calif.
Really tired of anything production related being referred to as “a creative collective”. If that were the case, I’d have just as much decision-making power as the five Creative Producers surrounding me.
@DannyManus Are you sure that’s why? Cause that sounds like an excuse that you would give to a job you don’t want to do. Maybe she just didn’t want to do your movie.
The In Memoriams continue to be classist trash. Why are there always eight billion agents and managers up there and not crew or technical geniuses like this guy.
So incredibly disappointed and heartbroken that the #Oscars and AMPAS chose not to include my father, David Keighley, and his immeasurable contributions to IMAX and cinema in the In Memoriam segment in the broadcast.
I will never forget.
I just really don’t understand people who are running “masterclasses” or “crash courses on X department in film” right now. It feels downright irresponsible. Practically mail fraud.
I do a LOT of mentorship and informational interviews, with everyone from young union pros to college students- and I still do, even in this awful job climate. I don’t discourage them, but my advice to them has changed (lots of “stay where you are and gain experience”)
Federal agents opened fire in a Los Angeles neighborhood (Willowbrook) this morning during an ICE operation. Feds were chasing people in a car, fired into the car, & caused the car to crash.
LASD is assisting the feds on the ground.
