LONG-GRASSING?
The Minister's remarks on @LBC at the crack of dawn on Saturday are distressing.
@UKLabour promised to return politics to public service.
But their handling of the leasehold and fleecehold agenda feels aloof and will only fuel disillusionment with our democracy.
@FreeLeasehlders@UKLabour@LBC This is just so disappointing to hear Labour now backtracking on what was promised not only in your manifesto, but in the King's Speech. I know it's complex, but that work has already been done in LAFRA 2024. Life is completely on hold for myself and many others. Act NOW!!
@mtpennycook@nicola_hawkins@mtpennycook I voted for Labour on the basis of abolishing leasehold “quickly”.
You’ve shown very little commitment to freeing people from this trap. Instead you continue to backtrack.
We’re going to get nowhere with your false pledges.
Please sort this immediately!
Lawyers warning housing associations it won't be as easy to repossess shared ownership flats and advising them to train their staff so they can use forfeiture instead.
Lovely.
As long as @UKLabour persists with the feudal freehold-leasehold system in 🏴 5M leasehold houses and flats will never belong to the Britons who have mortgages on them. Activating the Leasehold & Freehold Reform Act (LAFRA) would be a good start @mtpennycook @Keir_Starmer
On abolishing leasehold, since Apr 2024 @UKLabour have gone from:
- ‘In our first 100 days’ to
- ‘At the earliest opportunity’ to
- ‘In due course’ and now
- ‘We reiterate our commitment to act’ to
- ‘Our long term plan is…’
Enable LAFRA @mtpennycook@AngelaRayner
Wow 🏴🏴 if only you had highrise freehold (Commonhold) flats like the one I owned in Australia early 1990s (I worked for the developer); it had sprinkler systems, fire alarms and 2x fire escapes
@Keir_Starmer@mtpennycook@AngelaRayner@CommonholdNow
Nonsense! I’m an EXPERT in Commonhold tenure (trained, qualified, experienced and owned in a few countries) and it IS superior ownership vs leasehold in factual legal terms; people in 🏴🏴 are merely campaigning for democratic choice!
A Freeholder’s Fear of Bankruptcy https://t.co/TtWpeiSdQQ - what about leaseholders facing the loss of their homes? What about buyers unable to get mortgages? What about people unable to sell? @ALEPofficial - never seen you once give a stuff about leaseholders. @FreeLeasehlders
The fire was a crime committed by politicians and businesses. And it's the innocent victims-leaseholders & volunteer RMC directors, who are paying the price,in the form of #WakingWatchScam, insurance, remediation costs &fire doors, & responsibility for fixing the crimes of others.
This is very common. As long as companies can make money from leaseholders by charging us to "fix" fire doors, they will fail every inspection.
I've raised this with @H_S_E and @mhclg multiple times, and they've done absolutely NOTHING about this govt sanctioned scam.
@cityblue2001@BBurchellPhoto1@BBCNews No one has said we shouldn't pay for service charges. We don't need leasehold for this. Commonhold works in the rest of the world.

New towns should never be leasehold or Fleecehold otherwise you will perpetuate the current system which allows investors & managing agents to milk residents dry.
Is Sir Micheal Lyons aware of this?
Happy to meet to explain.

@TenureFreedom @ritustweets@RFAssociation@LandmarkInvsGrp What BS. As a RTM, I've just organised my freeholder's insurance (Mr Platt's employer Wallace group) and the hard work involves answering a few ready to hand questions. Can't wait to see them go down for this exploitation.
