@Plinz once you are intelligent enough to make second order representations you move way faster than bio-evo so you turn everything into food and labour before it has a chance to become intelligent enough to compete and before you have a chance to become wise enough to not
@dwarkesh_sp People hate vice much less than fakery. I don't care whether he's a bad person or not, just him describing everything as beautiful and deep because he doesn't understand the material well enough to say anything of substance but only cares to be seen as someone who does.
@Meaningness Leaving aside the fact that you obviously can't know how useful discoveries are ahead of time, this is still a very strange arument. What's the downside?
@RichardMCNgo@Aella_Girl the tolerance statement is badly formulated because it doesn't make clear that it's talking about unprovoked intolerance, whereas aella's statement makes clear it's talking about unprovoked harm.
@divya_venn@Aella_Girl I also don't really have a natural internal dialogue and was plagued by impulsivity; deliberately describing things in words helps me unblend myself from my thoughts, and no longer identifying with the emotion itself makes it easier to advise yourself as well as you advise others
As an anendophasiac, extreme-ADHD, brain-fogger I approve this exercise. Nothing has increased my agency more than just talking out loud or turbo-typing a stream of conciousness into a notepad. Words are sort of symbiotic organisms running on your brain, you gain much by giving them the reigns of your working memory to produce intelligence, while still being mindful enough to pay attention and prod. This is the only way I can bring myself to be self-aware or think analytically or consider longer timeframes.
@ZCesspool @eigenrobot It's futile trying to make a long-winded reasonable point when there is a super low-hanging meme response "haha ur just provin the point" thought-ender here.
@skdh I'm glad you posted this because I was just about to start a PhD in quantum computing specifically to figure out why the obvious 10 septillion years bullshit is bullshit. This has saved me at least 3 years.
@Plinz I wish there was a platform that's permissive of Wrongthink but isn't manipulated by Elon serving his political goals. What I've seen on threads/bluesky has given me the impression they're much less pluralistic, which unfortunately is a bigger allergen than Elon messing with algo
@hyperdiscogirl@fkasummer Infinite reset, I think. You can get to parts of other media that push you out of the flow state because they're cognitively or emotionally challenging in a way that forces you to loop your sense of self back in if you want to continue. With feeds you can just begin anew always
@tszzl that's funny cos I just talked to Iranian Roon and he was saying the same thing about the IDF. I wonder if this mindset has anything to do with how the current situation came to be or if it's just some weird coincidence
@visakanv These "duhs" are triggering. You figure out some deeper truth that you only knew the shallow version of before but when you try to explain it to someone they don't see past the shallowness. Horror was realising how many times in the past I was the "duh"-er.
@visakanv When I'm truly confident it's often because I'm succesfully predicting all your positions and counter moves already: your model is a small part of my model. You taking a position I wouldn't have predicted is reason to stop smiling, even if the position seems stupid in the moment.
