⭐️malicious compliance: a compilation of fun ways for women to legally be assholes right back to men when the microaggressions honestly are just not worth reporting to HR
Penn demoted Katalin Karikó, stuck her in a lab on the outskirts of campus & cut her pay. Karikó’s colleagues openly denigrated her research.
Karikó's work led to the #Covid19 mRNA #vaccines
..& the Nobel Prize.

why are all panels like "here's five guys who went mit, did their postdoc at Harvard, got the so special award at Oxford, and are now the first tenure-track faculty on the moon, ask them your questions" like how can they give me advice. we do not have the same problems.
Yep!!! The National Science Foundation data has demonstrated these salary gaps in STEM are widespread, some even increasing with more education. Folks have tried to explain wage gaps by differences in career paths (i.e. not choosing STEM), but the data hasn't supported that.
Some asshat from NASA called me Joe’s “PR girl” at the rocket launch today, and I’ve spent the day trying to talk myself down from quitting rocketry forever.
I’m 25, I’ve been dealing with this shit for over a decade in STEM, and it STILL gets to me sometimes.

Once again, a computer is telling me that I don’t fit the “look” of my profession. I am none of the 3 identities presented as a “Computer Science professor” (old, male, White). Whelp … I guess I’ll just have to continue being a fabulous unicorn over here.
I’m that person whose nose was wide open about academia.
As the first professor in my immediate family, I knew rules were rules.
I knew if I did my job and showed up giving my best, academia would do right by me.
I was wrong.

I really don’t see myself staying in the field after this week. Like how do I just move forward knowing that there are professors out there who are posting in slack groups about how GM’s inclusion is valid. This is so triggering for SA victims and you guys just don’t care
Patriarchy in medicine. Let's discuss.
I recently had an unnerving interaction with another healthcare provider not from my local medical community. We had a mutual patient, one that I was seeing for Long COVID.
A woman at another big tech company (that I won’t name) told me a male leader responded to a question on diversity goals with “diversity is a luxury, right now we need to focus on people who can do the job”
A lot to unpack there, & an unsurprising view we knew many had all along.
Today a student almost cancelled an important appointment with me, one she needs to have, in order to graduate. She almost cancelled because she couldn’t find childcare. I offered her zoom but she wanted to meet in person. So what did I do? Told her to bring the child with her.
