A little grin came to his lips, nodding along. “Everyone tumbles him.”
“He’s your guy, see? You know the taunts.”
Green hands gesture over at the very tumbled Stilt-Man.
“I tumbled him.”
“Stop calling him my guy. Usual is stuff about being tall, impossible to tumble.”
Yes, yes he does.
“I don’t know his usual taunts. He’s not my guy.”
Mh. Spider-Man still has worse guys.
“Poor guy. Did he get a chance to do his usual taunts?”
Yeah. Big time.
“No, not that stupid. It was a coincidence that he happened to stilt on by while I was here.”
Oh no. Do people see Stilt-Man as ‘his’?
“I’d like to believe he isn’t stupid enough to come after you of all people. But he’s full of surprises.”
For sure.
She puffs a strand of green hair out of her face and shrugs.
“I don’t know, stilt stuff? He’s not my guy. He’s yours.”
Lucky for Stilt-Man then.
“I meant you didn’t have to—What was he doing here?”
Jen stands up straight, dusting herself off. Mr. Stilts over there is lucky he caught her 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 work. She wouldn’t have been so nice if he made her late.
“Uh, yes, I did. That’s why I did it.”
He’s ducking. As well as delivering a final punch to make sure he doesn’t think about doing anything.
“You didn’t know to throw him.”
Right, well, duck!
Woah, woah—! He doesn’t have catching a man with big metal stilts kind of strength.
Well, he’s got plenty of those, too.

Better annoying than murderous scumbag. Eh, she looks like she’s got a handle on this.
He’s totally annoying. Honestly, she should just leave this to him.
He’s a nice change of pace from the kind of people he’s used to. She can’t find the joy of Stult-Man?
She wouldn’t call that ‘holding back’. She can see his teeth from here.
How does he put up with this moron?
Things have been good lately. He’s been trying to really enjoy it, instead of dreading when it ends like he has in the past.
Battling a headache, and of course the neighbors decide now is the time to blast their music. Nnh.
Heh, Stick was… something. Personally he thinks a child in a war wins, but they don’t need to play who had the worse childhood.
He’s had times in his life where he’s had trouble with that same thing. ‘Mysterious ways’, as they say.
His childhood wasn’t the greatest, sure— but he didn’t get blinded & trained by a questionable sensei for years. Matt wins in that department, or loses depending on how you look at it.
Some things are just inexcusable, really.
The Devil is in no mood tonight, he’s looking for answers among these thugs—and they’re going to give them up to him.
And he appreciates that. Though, he could say the same for James.

Childhood like that, no one should have it. If it’s any consolation, Matt has his sympathy.
Not a bad view to have, but if god is real, he has questions to ask him when the time comes.
