Thank you, @IlliniAD. Games and seasons have their ups and downs, and the associated emotional responses, but this list is a good trigger to reflect on where we were back in 2016 when you came in. Thank you.
@Eyesandvibes +s CP, Dest, Balogun, Weah, McKennie, Arfsten
-s keeper, CB except Ream, Dest and Jedi didn’t do their defensive jobs well enough. Need Richards bad.
Balogun needs to be the 9.
This is all simple... and yet being made difficult... cap at $350M, floor at $150M. 3 year ramps to get into compliance. Done... and then the numbers can shift based on CPI or another metric... or we can just have big and small market fans kick each other in the groin. #mlb
@YankeeLibrarian Yeah... always one of those poor Yankees fans telling us how mismanaged our mid and small market teams are. If only we could be so unfortunate to have a market where TV revenue covers the entire payroll...
The Marlins are an OUTLIER.
@KodyDuncanPGH Get ready for the NY/LA/big market fans to tell you you're wrong... because they all think they hit a triple when they really were born on third.
@PatternDrifter@turnstylerock@HotStoveintel Kicking the can down the road is what big firms have done for decades... when the house of cards comes down, you have MLB's version of the 2008 housing crisis.
@turnstylerock@PatternDrifter@HotStoveintel I'm sure the owners have their own lines of credit they can draw from, but like any business owner, they're not looking to put cash back into the business - they all expect it to be self-sustaining...likened to any other business (on much bigger, more publicly-scrutinized scale).
@JasonJGreen33@JesseRogersESPN I get the differences... but none of those points from the original quote resonates when that's literally what business owners in any industry would do... I was just being sarcastic about it.
The whole "billionaires" thing is so lazy and fodder for the uneducated.
@PatternDrifter@HotStoveintel No argument there... I just don't get along with positions equating value and cash... some just have book value... like buying a house for $400K on a cheap mortgage on a $150K salary, and now it's worth $1M on the same mortgage and salary... NW is great... cash doesn't change.
@tipping_pitches I get where you're going with this, but the Cards fall into that group, and are a highly competitive and very young team starting over... one size does not fit all when it comes to things like this.
@JesseRogersESPN It's amazing... there's like a 90% positive correlation in this thread between whining about the cap and being a fan of a big market team. I'm completely shocked by this...
@the_bonnfire welp... that's just devastating... as far as importance goes, I'd argue he's in the top 3 on the entire squad... obviously CP is one of those 3... other contenders would include McKennie, Adams, and Jedi.
@Justin__NC@Joshstrangehill@AlbertBrooks Eh... I've been to the Hammock Hut on 3rd... but it's a bunch of BS about Mary Ann getting in the hammock with you at her place.
@usmntonly That's simply not true... sure, we'd have our "best" athletes playing soccer...
Newsflash: the guys who are best suited for soccer (speed, endurance, technical) already play it. Soccer is about culture, technical ability, teamwork and movement, not just 1 on 1 athleticism.
