i’ve just been told that my universal credit payments will be stopped unless i start physically attending appts in person every single week
i am claiming this because i am too sick to work at the moment, so getting to an inaccessible job centre each week is out of the question
How can University societies make events more accessible?
On #TheDisabilityDownload, Beck tells us about the @uomdisabledsoc ‘s incredibly accessible café crawl - where info was given about everything from ramps to busyness to lighting.

@TfL is doing a review on Tube access, with focus on wheelchair access. RN, less than half of the stations are even partially step-free, let alone fully, and a station can mark itself as fully step-free if only ONE platform is, without giving indication that this is the case. (1)
This is so unhinged. Wasn’t even about mandates, just a recommendation to keep your shots up to date. What’s wrong with this guy? Who reacts like this? And he gives life advice???
@BlondeHistorian@GuideDogAva We were recently told no wheelchair at a climbing gym and not given a reason or who to complain to. Also theres no guaranteeing ur property is safe unless in a locked, which ofc, is about 1px too small for a chair. Not looking after access aids IS excluding disabled people.
@UoMEandD@OfficialUoM@UoMDSN@UoMDASS@HHHotWheels@nadsn_uk And throughout all of this, Estates and Facilities have ignored any contact we’ve made with them and refuse to resolve accessibility issues. Activism involves more than lighting up buildings or performances. Disabled students need to be listened to and issues need to be resolved.
@UoMEandD@OfficialUoM@UoMDSN@UoMDASS@HHHotWheels@nadsn_uk Students have been locked in buildings during fire alarms because accessible exits have been locked. Lifts have been turned off requiring students to climb stairs, and resulted in wheelchairs being broken. Alarm cords in disabled toilets are constantly tied up.
