During @hf0 one of the best exercises @davefontenot and @evans was to tell our company story as a children's book.
Last week I actually made a book - we're printing it.
Being a marketer is HARD - your work often gets unnoticed and does not always get the credit it deserves. 😳
Great to host over 200 marketers at our SF HQ for the inaugural Codex for Marketers meetup featuring Marketing Engineer builds from:
• Pranav Deshpande at @openai
• @danbeksha at @tryramp
• @mada299 at @UpsideGTM
• @nicklafferty at Profound
Thanks to everyone who showed up.
"every GTM engineer is basically hiring a brand new intern every time they open an agent. it's smart, but never onboarded. the fix is persistent memory and context."
@UpsideGTM is building the data layer for GTM engineers, helping operators build the context their agents need to actually do the work instead of starting from scratch every time.
i loved this conversation with @alexdbauer, co-founder of @UpsideGTM, at our @aiDotEngineer booth.
we got into:
1:47 how the GTM engineer went from automating outbound to full-stack builder
2:37 the refinery that turns raw CRM data into fuel your agents can actually use
6:36 why every agent starts like a brand-new intern, and how persistent memory fixes it
9:37 the "librarian" pattern: one agent trained on your business that onboards the whole team
10:37 treating agents as persistent coworkers, not chatbots stuck in a box
thanks for coming onto our pod, @alexdbauer!
By GTM engineers, for GTM engineers
Thanks @mada299 and team for putting together this highly curated group.
Everyone I met was either scaling outbound agents or running a sales team or ROImaxxing
I’m not a big fan of open invite events but today’s Show and Tell: AI for GTM hosted by @UpsideGTM was amazing!! It was no frills real demos from actual operators.
I got at least three more internal product ideas to build in the next two weeks
AI is changing how we do GTM so fast that this is the first issue of something I've wanted to make for a while: The Upside-Down Funnel, a weekend letter about what we've been learning and experimenting with every week, at the edge of GTM. Less news, more of what we're pondering, building, and stealing from. Here we go. https://t.co/czWuziPr2R
AIE art is almost complete! Thank you for everyone who contributed to this at @aiDotEngineer and @swyx office. If only I could plug it into @UpsideGTM to make it easily accessible 😂😂
There is a lot of pride among AI founders today around doing "996." 9 to 9, 6 days a week. SF is normalizing the 72-hour week to win the AI race.
I started Upside to enable a different way of winning. The whole promise of AI is that people should work LESS, and only on WHAT MATTERS not get chained to their desks grinding.
@alexdbauer wrote more on how we did it, I just made the images :-) and @swyx and @vibhuuuus helped us print them at @aiDotEngineer yesterday.
6/ Get it right and you'll see a Cambrian explosion of data-driven creativity.
We wrote an article about what we’ve learned getting teams there, and the bosses to defeat along the way.

1/ AI is a valedictorian intern: book-smart, overconfident, and fresh out of school with no real-world experience. Point one at a typical enterprise CRM and it’ll confidently build on thirty years of garbage.
The model was never the bottleneck in agentic GTM. Your data is.
5/ You wouldn’t rebuild all of Excel just to use a spreadsheet, and you shouldn’t build your own context layer either.
Both @OpenAI and @AnthropicAI have written up how much unglamorous, non-model work it took before their own internal data agents became usable.
