This is the likely effect of computers/laptops on students.
I'm bullish on using AI to help students learn. And our team runs randomised controlled trials to test what's working, so it's not like we're running blind.
But it's still worth asking: how would we know if we were making a mistake, and what would we do to protect against risks? We don't want to be the well-meaning people who wrecked a generation of students because we refused to properly look at evidence.
1/ Want a 60 min crash course on Claude Code and Codex for economic research?
I reckon it's worth checking out for researchers, even if you're not an economist.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but:
You can love an adopted person (even in your own family) and still be critical of adoption as a system, and want to envision what abolition means.
In fact, it’s often because of one’s love for that person that you do.
@corsent@ACLU@ACLU, all future contributions from me are contingent on the condition that you will never oppose adoptee rights. Demonstrate this by ousting everyone from your Michigan contingent who wants to oppress adoptees.
MICHIGAN! I only ask people to do broad action alerts if I feel they are necessary. This one is necessary, and it can be effective. This is national in scope and for everyone, so please contact Michigan Senators today. https://t.co/0HfJZEJt1l
We may need everyone’s help on a bill in Michigan, where the opposition is literally piling on (and ignoring reality). Are you ready to help? We can do this. Together. More tomorrow.
@RudyOwensMemoir @GovWhitmer When @GovWhitmer does sign our bills into law, my guess is you will hear much more than a “single statement” in support of this decades long battle to restore the basic human and civil right of identity to all MI born adoptees. It is finally our time and your advocacy has helped
@RudyOwensMemoir @GovWhitmer We have a committed leader in @RepKristianG. Less than 1 year ago she was elected and made clean leg for adoptee rights one of her top priorities. She delivered a bipartisan victory in the House. The Senate is next when they return in Jan. Gov Whitmer will sign our bills in 2024.
@ronanbeckman @RudyOwensMemoir We do too! Please follow along for updates and join our effort at the Michigan Adoptee Rights Coalition FB page or website https://t.co/1F86I0J0ar
@ronanbeckman @RudyOwensMemoir Our goal is to move forward with Senate in Q1 or Q2 at the latest so it can be signed into law by our Governor before elections next November. We have a once in 40 year trifecta of a democratic house, senate and governorship and we need to get it done before this session is over
