I know so many well equipped labs in 🇲🇽 that have hosted iGEM teams that did not attend because they couldn’t afford registration. As much as i love iGEM I would argue against participating if that means spending from your own pocket. Sadly in🇲🇽only private unis can afford it 😔

@jdpereira I guess the question is why did the student do it? If it was for fun then perhaps the student isn’t looking for any pay ( at least that’s my view as a student who would do something similar) .But if some pay is given even if not expected , im sure it would be appreciated :).

@jdpereira i like to do designs on illustrator and I haven’t done a logo for our lab but I’ve def thought about it. If i did one it wouldn’t be because my supervisor asked, but because i enjoy doing illustrations for fun. Im a PhD student and personally wouldn’t expect a pay.. but thats me.

¡Amigos de la comunidad synbio en México, necesito su opinión!🧬Si tuvieran que resaltar hitos clave en el desarrollo del panorama de synbio en México, ¿cuáles destacarían? Aquí hay algunos que me vienen a la mente 🤓:

1.Participacion del primer equipo iGEM de México en el 2006

Empresas como @Scintia_mx igual son de las mas establecidas y que han perdurado lo cual considero un hito, , pero me pregunto si existe alguna otra fundada aun antes. Quizás alguna se las empresas agrobiotecnológicas de alfonso romo garza? 🤔

8. Establecimiento de la primera empresa/startup que usa las herramientas de synbio en Mexico. Aqui no estoy seguro. Se que algunas de las primeras startups ya no están activas, pero quizas desconozco.

@Kari_GMoreno La sintesis de ADN es una herramienta importante para la biología sintética por eso considere la fundación de oligo t4 como un evento importante en 🇲🇽,pero una pregunta: ¿ustedes como empresa se identificarían como una empresa que utiliza synbio en alguno de sus otros productos?

@said3427 Said :)! Sabes en qué año se estableció? De igual manera esta el lab de agustino en cinvestav, creo fue igual de los primeros en formalmente identificarse como lab que usa synbio.
