@naz_andalibi Never thought of that! One thing tho, is that if a difficult name *does* get cited, it might be easier for people to recognize it due to distinctiveness (based on my own experience 😊). This unfairly impacts all the Li’s, Lee’s and Zheng’s of the world…
A reviewer should give the editor reasons to accept or reject the paper (ideally both). The editor likely doesn't read the paper, so the review should be *detailed*. Also, the reviewer should participate in the discussion! Esp. if they gave the paper a neutral/borderline score.
An editor should *lead* the discussion, not just observe it. They should *not* simply ask the reviewers to read each others' reviews. *They* should read the reviews, draft the meta-review, then ask the reviewers to comment on it. I wrote a thread on this: https://t.co/55sFSFJffu
1/ Dear meta-reviewers (ACs, senior PCs) of conferences/journals with a discussion period: asking the reviewers to “please read each others’ reviews and come to an agreement” is not a great way to start the discussion. Its your job to provide a starting point! A thread 🧵:
Aaaand here’s why my Twitter and Facebook feeds got a lot more palatable after I blocked every reactionary lib who put “je suis hebdo” in their tagline in 2015.

Waiting for the strongly-worded “this is not who we are” email from @ClemsonPrez. But I guess trustees don’t have to play by the “Clemson family” rules.
