The Australian government’s decision to advance the “News Bargaining Incentive” is concerning, as it amounts to a discriminatory tax on U.S. digital services. CSI encourages the U.S. government to engage and push back against this digital services tax.
#BREAKING: Chairmen @Jim_Jordan and @RepFitzgerald demand information about South Korea’s discrimination against American companies.
In a new subpoena to Coupang, they request documents and communications with the Korean government and require testimony before the Committee.

CSI communicated to ROK the importance of non-discriminatory treatment of US services firms, esp in the digital space and with respect to competition law. We also noted the importance of adhering to transparent, non-discriminatory enforcement measures.
The French Parliament is poised to double to 6% a tax targeted at US digital services firms. USTR already investigated and concluded the tax discriminates against American business. We hope the Trump admin will push the French government to refrain from this escalatory move.
The EU launched 2 investigations that target US cloud providers, complaining they “occupy very strong positions,” only months after it pledged to address unfair barriers to digital trade. We urge USTR & Commerce to address the disconnect in upcoming Brussels meetings.
The US has won important commitments on digital trade from partners in Asia and Latin America. As Amb. Greer and Sec. Lutnick head to Brussels, we hope they’ll also press the EU to treat American companies fairly on the regulations and tax front.
As U.S.–Brazil trade discussions advance, CSI urges Brazil to refrain from adopting digital or services measures that would create new non-tariff barriers for U.S. services and digital providers.
I am shocked to learn that Brazil, in the middle of trade discussions with the U.S., is fast-tracking a DMA-style bill that targets U.S. companies. I support @POTUS’ strong stance against these damaging digital markets regulations around the world and will work with the administration to respond to this development. I urge Brazil to reject this failed EU approach that harms innovation and will further undermine the U.S.-Brazil relationship.
CSI appreciates the opportunity to share our comments for the 2026 National Trade Estimate Report highlighting outstanding services barriers and the rise in digital sovereignty we’re seeing globally https://t.co/phIrWhFB3f
On the latest move by the French Nat Assembly to double the digital services tax, we agree w/ the French economy minister: lousy idea. The 3% tax was wrong-headed enough - clearly a revenue grab aimed at US companies. But doubling down on bad is worse. We hope reason prevails.
It’s also critical that the U.S. press China to address the many services barriers not covered in Phase One, including express delivery, telecom, audiovisual, and cloud restrictions. (2/2)
CSI supports the Trump Administration’s resolve to ensure China fully implements its Phase One trade commitments, including on EPS, insurance, and increased purchases of U.S. services and goods. (1/2)

@USCSI: The Brazilian government introduced a digital market competition + regulation bill that's burdensome to U.S. firms and undermines a level playing field. More on #digitaltradebarriers in Brazil: https://t.co/zaqiS38yh2
Amid sweeping tariff hikes, a quieter issue risks being missed: how we govern the infrastructure powering the digital economy.

COMING UP AT 7:30 PM | US President Donald Trump has opened the flood gates for a tariff war with the imposition of reciprocal tariffs on all nations. @Parikshitl speaks to @USCSI President Christine Bliss about how these duties could hurt economies around the world on #GlobalEye.
Foreign countries like Canada and South Korea are unfairly targeting U.S. digital companies in their trade policies.
I asked the President of @USCSI what steps the U.S. should take to protect American companies from biased trade strategies.
