Was für ein Gestammele, besonders von Weidel. Hitler sei Kommunist gewesen… Dabei hat er die Kommunisten ermordet. Weidel dient sich dem Tech Milliardär an, fragt nach der Mars Besiedlung. Sie hätte fast gekniet. Peinlich. https://t.co/W13PowWGBH
Working towards an #anthropology of destiny, this new JEMS article explores the concept of taqdeer (destiny) and how it shapes the experiences and decision-making of #irregularmigrants in Europe, particularly their "voluntary" return:

Our new special issue is for those interested in ethnographic accounts of removal/return & affective lives of migrants facing removal. Just out in @scmrjems (OA): https://t.co/JTb7IQ12sX contributions by @elihjal@GVAGrad@VictoriaTecca@UCLanthropology@PerlGerhild & others
I've been trying to think about precarity in migration through the lens of destiny for a while. Many of these thoughts are in my new JEMS (OA) piece "The Feeling of Destiny". Have a read if you're interested in the anthro of destiny & migration https://t.co/uPEka9cCEI

#TheMultisidedEthnographer can't help with your distance running aims😉 ... BUT a valuable resource if you are an ethnographer navigating the blurry boundaries of "private" and "professional". See what @kasmani_o & Roger Norum say, then read here (OA): https://t.co/LSNQIP08m8
@kasmani_o The stage director/producer in Vienna was interested in bringing it to Germany – or in case a companion piece takes shape – she might be a good contact: https://t.co/5JFcs4934T

@kasmani_o Reminds me of this very powerful play I saw in Vienna some months back. Like the whole 2h+ play was packed into a potent inscription, a taweez of non-fiction writing. Can't wait for the book to come out!

Our #PRIMEprojectEU aims to identify viable policies to improve the wellbeing of #irregularmigrants. How will we do this? ➡️Through partnerships.
In Austria @skingsav & @usmanmahar met w NGOs & govt reps. What did they say? See 🧵for highlights.
@skingsav & @usmanmahar (USG #PRIMEprojectEU team) organised a preliminary stakeholder meeting in Vienna this week! Such meetings are an opp. to discuss the most pressing issues related to irregular migrants with stakeholders in Austria (NGOs, state institutions, employers, etc.)
Keeping our various stakeholders involved throughout our research on the conditions of irregular migrants in Europe is an approach that #PRIMEprojectEU takes pride in due to the practical/policy merits but also its methodological and epistemological value. @MPC_EUI

As we can see these are volatile times in #Europe. In the difficult days ahead, #EU leaders must be careful not to exacerbate domestic divisions, including a feared rise in anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. Their focus should be on uniting rather than dividing their citizens and acting fast to do so.
