The “church attendance” problem comes in a different article. For now, here’s a few ideas on how to leverage sports missionally if you’re a ministry leader…appreciate the collaboration with @BrianSmithAIA and @tgc https://t.co/ehOL0rmdXf
Evangelical Christianity in the United States is often characterized by a deep desire to have “Christianity” pervade our culture but not have Christ permeate our being.
@Ameen_HGA And for those who have ears to hear beneath the surface, this is in fact why DEI departments came into existence in the first place. Competence is rarely the issue keeping the table monocultural…
@danmall Really love the intentionality behind this Dan! Gonna look different for everybody, but intentionality gets the ball rolling for all of us to figure out how to make it work in our specific situation…
@DerekrRJoseph@Ameen_HGA On a macro level yes, especially within secular school system, and I agree with your statement on interpretations and applications. But again, what is in the interpretations and applications of this book that doesn’t align with a Christian take on reality? I used to be with AIA
Some people want to live in an echo chamber where they only read or reference people that they agree with 100%. Maybe they’re afraid they’ll be weakened by contradicting ideas. I refuse to live in such a small world.
Read widely.
Think critically.
Live charitably.
@DerekrRJoseph@Ameen_HGA Appreciate you answering. It’s strange that 25 years ago those were just observable realities pointing to problems Christians should take seriously, but now they’re glommed into a total package pejoratively called “woke” and seen as the problem. Isn’t that strange to you?
@MB1952S @RoninOfChrist @jason_howerton@AmSolidarity If you read "Faultlines" also read my good friend @Uszynski32's book "Untangling Critical Race Theory" and @JoelMcDurmon's book "The Problem of Slavery in Christian America"
Read holistically and not just in an echo-chamber
@Elijah_Moree@Ameen_HGA Interesting how many make the confident claim that Keller’s motive in saying these things was to appear “winsome.” That never even crossed my mind as a reason, though there’s be nothing wrong with it. He took those positions because he thought the alternatives were foolish…
@DerekrRJoseph@Ameen_HGA That’s not answering the question. It’s largely a book of research and conclusions drawn by that research. What make it “woke” for you?
Napheesa Collier’s full statement today, where she challenged Commissioner Cathy Engelbert and the WNBA with directness and stunning detail we rarely hear from active players. Worth listening to every word.
