If I had been a voting adult between 1945-75, I would have been a centrist on economic issues.
Now that the pendulum has swung so far to the right (on economic issues), I find myself on the radical left.
This illustrates the senselessness of fetishising being a "moderate".
"It's obvious the reason why Sam Harris doesn't want to get into the history of it is because that might be kind of humanizing toward the other side, and clearly what he's in business of doing is dehumanizing them. And that's the whole game."
@ComicDaveSmith and @RobbieTheFire dismantle Sam Harris' ridiculous "Why I Won’t Debate Critics of Israel" article on Substack.
“If we didn’t sign Branthwaite, how can we possibly defend high? He’s just £85m, missing out on him would mean our season over” We can see where Branthwaite is today.
“How can we miss out on Evan Ferguson, £100m for Baby Kane is not too much”
Where is baby Kane today?
“We must sign Baleba, we need legs in the midfield, without Baleba how can we play football?”
Sell Bruno for £57m buy Baleba for £112m” “its for the good of the club”
Now it is, if we don’t sign Anderson, we won’t be able to play football next season, our season is already over before it started because we don’t want to sign Anderson for £120m..
See the pattern?? I am glad we don’t have Richard Arnold and John Murtough anymore, now we work with data, we sign players that are ready to play for us, you can cry all you want, I’ll advise you to go do your assignments.
People going into bat for Roy Keane because he's a Manchester United legend miss the point. He isn't being criticised for his contributions as a player, that is entirely separate from this issue with Bruno Fernandes.
Keane lied when he spoke about Bruno Fernandes. It has been called a misquote, but it was worse - he lied. When called out, he responded with a childish IG story that dodged any & all accountability for said lie.
If you aren't separating player from person, you're way off the mark. Defending him based upon 'standards' is embarrassing & does not make him or those defending the bearer of them the way they think it is.
Bruno Fernandes quite literally said you're welcome to criticise me but do not lie about things I have never said. If you can't understand understand why all of this is a problem, it's because you might be part of it.
Most of the dislike of Bruno comes from media/commentator lies about him, coupled with fake Man Utd fans who have attacked him (not criticised) over the past 6 years.
Last season was comfortably the worst United side I have ever seen. Bruno was played as a #6 ffs... He ended up with 19 goals and 19 assists at the end of the season.
This season started no better. Amorim was here till January. That means Bruno played in the pivot till January. He registered his first assist during GW8 for the Maguire winner against Liverpool at Anfield.
He is now on 20 assists with the same players and people are trying to downplay it. Its hilarious.
When a team struggles this badly, creative players usually suffer with it. Their numbers drop, their influence fades and they get swallowed by it.
Bruno? He doesn't do that. No matter how unstable the team becomes, he still ends up producing at a historic level. And not just "good numbers" either. These are numbers that put him alongside generational players like Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
This isn't Bruno playing in a 100 point team either. This is Bruno creating chance after chance in a side that was dreadful up until January.
At some point people need to stop acting like consistency at this level is normal just because Bruno makes it look normal.
One day people will realise they have spent more time debating and nitpicking Bruno Fernandes instead of just appreciating that they were watching one of the best players the Premier League has ever seen.
One of the Labour Party's most deeply-held & irritating beliefs is that other parties are cheating if they don't let it win. Even in a by-election called solely to deal with its own internal wranglings. Even when one of its own leading members is doing his best to make it lose
@Joe___Allen So is the Labour Party going to stand down in Gorton and Denton next time?
And the Green Party isn’t “centre-left”. It’s a left wing party with a different policy prospectus.
Not every supposedly progressive institution should be an appendage of the Labour Party!
@perayahmet@owenjonesjourno You didn't challenge him though. Why not answer his question. Why should the Green Party stand aside when its policy platform is substantively different to Labour?
I hate Arsenal, irrationally, as I explained at weekend. But my argument over VAR with them and West Ham was largely goal was given, and about 20 Arsenal fouls in box were ignored at same time. And that's me being irrational.
In Scotland, I get desperation for Hearts to win. In on it. But that Motherwell handball against Celtic is not only clearest you'll see, but also involved another foul in same action, as in elbowing a guy in head.
The reaction is mental.
What do people want VAR to do here 😂😂😂
Ffs working class credentials always reduced to some caricature story about who your parents were!
This man has no interest and no history of supporting working class people
He tried to close local services including music provision in a working class borough (Redbridge), is increasing privatisation of our NHS, and *supported* student fees when he was NUS President
You may not like it, but this is the best politician in the world right now.
Within 6 months of being sworn in he has:
• Balanced a massive budget deficit.
• Produced the lowest murder rate in NYC history.
• Introduced a pilot program for free childcare.
• Has collected $100 million in fines from landlords for abhorrent living conditions.
- Lost ZERO billionaires!
This country might be about to have its 6th Prime Minister in 7 years.
Why? Because they’ve all failed to take on a rigged economic system that enriches the few at the expense of us all.
People want a society where children don’t go hungry. That is really not too much to ask.
@SamJDean Bruno has been (by far) the most influential player in the league, playing a majority of the season out of position and is within touching distance of Henry's assist record. He's also just a better footballer than Rice. Not sure what else to tell you.
